I much prefer the sound and immediate response of a NA engine; turbo motors are inferior - so I wholly reject the ridiculous claim in the ad that the engine is a selling point. It's another in a seeming endless stream of characterless commodity engines. Just like without looking, you'd never know if your M5 had a BMW engine or a Cadillac CTS-V mill under the hood.
Compare that to the S65/S85 experience. As for the looks, I wouldn't say it's significantly uglier than the new 3/4 series. But, beauty is in the eye, right? RS5 or a CPO 911S are WAY ahead of this thing. |

They have not said that the Eau Rouge is going into production. It is a concept and it COULD be produced in some form.
If they do build it, you can expect an M5-like sticker price. There's no way they'd price it way under the current GT-R.

Also, to the prior poster referencing Infiniti's F1 participation, the majority of that has actually been as an advertiser with the Red Bull car, not as an actual technical partner. In fact, the expertise has been flowing the other way, in that Seb supposedly helped Infiniti with suspension tuning on the Q50. I guess it's been money well spent if people are starting to think Infiniti has a racing heritage now.

I really like the way the Q50 looks and this is even more attractive.
The back looks great in the pic above but the one I saw online, not so much. Maybe it's the lighting and shadows but the exhaust and the dark area closer to the end look horrible together. |

Production car will probably not be anything like the concept. GTR AWD system (except for gearbox) and engine are $$$. Good luck pricing this thing even with an M5, E63 RS7 etc because the GTR already costs 100k. What is essentially a 4 door luxury GTR will not be sub 100k. I love the idea of this car, just doubt the execution will be exquisite as this.

M5: 103.000 € 911 S: 105.000 € GT-R: 95.000 € The Q50 Eau Rouge can cost less than the GT-R. It only uses some GT-R hardware but unlike the GT-R is not built from scratch, but is based on the Q50. Again, the Q50 ER is just a concept. However it shows that plus to Mercedes C AMG, Audi RS4/5, Lexus IS/RC F, the yet to come but obvious Jaguar XE-R, also Infiniti can be competitive, and the M3/M4 is no more the best car by a large margin. |

If this car will be limited, it will cost a lot more. If not it will have surely have less power and be cheaper.
Also, one has to consider, by the time this car hits the market, if ever, there will be a new GT-R R36 with new tech. So tech wise this Q50 ER is outdated. Tking of the Volvo S40 Polestar, the prototype made 500 PS from its 3.0l I6 and costed more than 200.000 € (forgot the price), the production version, still limited, was less powerful and costed much less, but was only sold in Australia. |
