How much sex between a couple is normal?

Recently got divorced... Used to do it at least daily with the ex... Is this too much to ask for in a new relationship? Should it decrease with time as a relationship ages and the new factor diminishes?

I don't think you should set expectations for sex. Let things happen naturally. 1+ a day (unless it happens naturally) would take the passion out of it and make it feel like going to work. Planning for sex is only when trying to have a baby.

This is something that has come up in my current and past relationships. It really depends on the person(s).

For me twice daily on average is normal and even as the novelty of the new relationship wears, I'm a firm believer that this can be maintained. Basically if you find someone that is not compatible in this dept I'd put thought into if she's actually compatible for you. That's just me though and I'm sure I'll catch some heat on that one.

Younger me (in college) dated a very fine and athletic young lady and sex was daily (2 or 3 times a day sometimes).

Now that I am married (for some years) sex is still weekly, but not daily. Priorities about the physical change over time and I have found we value companionship more than crawling over each other, and job stress can lead to apathy if you're not careful.

Calling bullshit. Married for 3 years, 1 kid, wife and I are like bunnies and go 4 times/week... I want to know what you guys who go 2-3 times per day do throughout the day..work? Kids? I wouldn't have time to sh*t 2-3 times per day.

Don't compare to college, playing hookie without a care in the world...

Everyone is different. I have friends who have been married 10 years and still bang a couple times a week. I have friends who have been married for a year and don't hardly bang at all, even though they did regularly before marriage. Men aren't so different, but women vary wildly. Some women want it like men do and then some women put up with sex until they are married with children. Some women want it a moderate amount before marriage, after marriage and after kids.

Personally after 13 years of marriage we're still doing it at least weekly and most of the time a couple times a week. We both seemed to turn it down a notch after the first few years where we'd have sex in morning, then in the car when meeting for lunch, and later in the evening or at bed time. But i was 30ish back then and i've grown content with a couple times a week. With as many married men who don't get sex, i'm a happy guy to have a wife who wants it as much as me, which is key.

As others have said, this is a conversation to have with your significant other.

For long term couples the average is usually 1-3 times per week, and thats from actual studies...

2-3 times a day is for newly couples. still passionate, not saying there arent rare cases where people are still passionate throughout more then 3 years, but usually sexy drops a bit after the first-2 year.. and some couples only have sex once a week.
how much you work/age and stress has a lot to do with it too. I have noticed when I am exited about certain life events and when I am doing extra well financially I have a lot more sex then when I am depressed/bummed out or tired or things arent going well.

Other factors are work schedules and how much a couple fights too.

and most important is how attracted you really are towards that person and how much they try to stay in shape and attractive..

It depends how tired we're feeling or if we had a rough day at work. Sometimes just watching an episode of a show and we're both out w/ the tv and room lights still on lol. But I would say once every 3 days. Been together almost 4 years now.

Well, speaking from personal experience, whatever is normal for you better be normal for the other person, because if it's that important to one, but not the other, the relationship is bound to suffer.
