E92 325i to 330i conversion thread
hi everyone, so iv seen from this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=372973 that it is possible to get more power from my 325i by changing the manifold to a 330i manifold.
Today I purchased an inlet manifold for my car to do the conversion. I managed to pick it up compete with both Adjustor Units for £170. Its used and from a bmw z4 3.0s. Now I think iv had a bit of a barging for the power gain I will get after a remap but if I have been mugged off then please tell me. Anyway by looking at the threads on this conversion it looks fairly straight forward to do unlike when I dropped 2 turbos into my 350z . Now the inlet should arrive to me on Monday as well as the new gaskets so I cant upload any pics as of yet but I will as soon as it arrives. Im doing this thread to show how it all goes for anyone interested. Last edited by essex_lad; 07-11-2013 at 04:35 PM.. |

z4 3.0is ffrom 2008 or even 2007 should be okay
Btw ima bit confused. if you have a 325i n52 in europe, you may already have the 3 stage manifold. I know the 125i n52 has one. The n53 engined 325i doesnt. After the swap the n53 needs a tune though.

The part number On the z4 inlet was the same as the one needed so I hope it works. I know my 325I is a 3.0 as its stated on my log book and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a 3 stage intake as there's plugs for the valve adjusters that aren't connected to anything. Also it would be the only reason why the cars power is restricted so much compared to the 330I.

Yep makes sense.
Now check to see if you have n52 or n53 by your VIN. That will determine where you go to have your tune done.

UPDATE:
Ok so I cleaned out the inlet manifold today after receiving it full of crap. In the processes of this I found what the difference is between the 330i and the 325i manifolds. There are too electronic controlled flaps which control the air flows. very interesting how it all works in this manifold, rather clever if I must say so myself compared to the 325i one . Anyway iv cleaned it all up now and taken some pics for you guys. Ill be fitting it into my car the end of next week once its all dried out. Dirty inlet manifold: Clean manifold: |

Do you know which screws screw in which adjuster unit? That is my current dilemma. The manifold I received came with five screws and I have no idea which of the 5 go to which adjuster.

4 short screws go to the bigger adjuster and then On the small adjuster you have a small one, a medium one and a long one which you have to put in the opposite side of the manifold to the small adjuster.
