N55 JB4 for Daily Driver???
Wondering what people's impressions are from a daily driver perspective. I have a CPO'd 335i that I don't want to affect adversely and from what I've researched the Jb4 is untraceable and if I had to take my car in I would just remove it prior.
Just curious to hear some real world experiences.

My car is a CPO as well and I now have a chargepipe, downpipe, intake, and an exhaust with the JB4 and I could not be happy. It drives beautifully when I need it to for the commute to the train and is an absolute monster on the backroads. The N55 is a truly awesome engine with and is really woken up with the JB4.

Your fuel pump or injector go bad? Bmw will not likely investigate it. Your engine blows? Bmw will probably dig deep and eventually find your car was tuned or modded. |

2011 CPO 335i (E90) here
I remove the BMS Intake and JB4 every time i take it to the dealer. Never had a problem. Never heard of any N55 owners blowing their engine so truly and really it is very unlikely for them to find out. There's always that risk but the truth is 80% of people that actually "mod" their car are here on E90post, asides from one member that actually LEFT the JB4 in the car when taking it to the dealer, i have not heard of any blown engines nor any void warranties. As my daily driver i love the fact that it is really smooth on "D" and it turns into a beast when I use the shift paddles. My 2 Cents -Ben

JB4, BMS downpipe, BMS intake, Vishnu chargepipe, exhaust, and sometimes E85. I would never dream about getting rid of the JB4. It turns the car into a freaking monster. It's a great feeling, knowing that you can fly by damn near anyone on the road. Someone being an asshole? Don't worry, you can just drop a gear and blow by him faster than he can say "hell yeah!" I leave my JB4 in when I take the car to the dealership. They don't give me any trouble. That thing isn't coming off until I sell the car. Driving without my JB4, would be like leaving the house without pants. |

I don't think I've come across a story of a tune breaking anything major in the n55. I've been tuned for about. 25k miles no issues. I bring my car fully loaded for service and warranty work (interior stuff). I haven't had an issue with the engine/tranny (40k miles of my use). If you're worried about warranty, then modding isn't for you. There's always a risk...

I leave the JB4 on if I bring the car in for anything non engine related and take it off otherwise.
The only drawback to having a modded car as a daily driver in my case are the intermittent idle issues, which are pretty annoying. That's not from the JB4 though but from the catless downpipe I am running.

You shouldn't have a problem but like others have said, make sure to remove your jb4 before dealership visits. That is why I opted for the Cobb over the jb.

You just gotta maintain the car, change the spark plugs every 20-25k miles, change the oil every 7-8k miles. get a charge pipe cuz the stock one will break. Take it out even visiting the dealer. I honestly leave it in when im just doing simple stuff like an oil change or non engine related stuff.
If your engine does blow up, cobb can be traced because if they check the black box, it will show higher boost levels. But the JB4 works with voltage, so if they check the black box it will still show stock boost levels. Makes sense?

as to the question of the OP .. I had the same questions running through my head for my 2011 n55 e92 with only 24k miles at the time I was a little worried.. but currently I have had my stage 2 jb4 for about a few months now and I love it! as a daily driver it's great! to be honest I drive around mostly at map 0 (stock) pre-iso.. and map 1 when I want more push. I still have not changed my cp and my stock one seems to be holding up great no problems at all so far. I actually have to make a dealer visit soon and I haven't removed it yet. I am not that great at handy work so I was't able to install it myself nor would I be able to remove it but I guess as long as you good it should be smooth sailing as long as you are aware of the extra (sooner) maintenance you will have to apply to your car like oil change and spark plugs sooner .. hope this helps I saw go for it just know some extra info |

Everyone's experience will vary depending on who you deal, along with your relationship with the dealership. I had a friend who brought his FBO 335i with all aftermarket parts left intact for a possible turbo warranty. The SA and technician saw everything, but he was simply told to put his car back to stock in order for them to move forward with BMWUSA.

I love it, but I also have a good understanding with my SA about mods.

This is all great info thanks guys. I'm coming from an E46 M3 (which I still have) and the work on there is much simpler. Im the type of guy who tends to do a bunch of research before I pull the trigger on a mod such as this.
I am happy these cars seem to have a friendly and knowledgable community, thanks again.

The previous owner of my car had JB4 installed. He removed it before selling the car to me, but was nice enough to tell me.
I believe he had the JB4 installed for about 10-15k miles of daily driving. Since buying the car I've had a blown turbo, vanos solenoid replacement (which also involved removing the oil pan to remove a broken bolt), and a head gasket replacement. Atleast one of those things should have thrown a flag. BMW happily replaced everything with 0 problems under warranty. |

Just removed my JB4 because I'm having some warranty work done tomorrow. It's going to a sad, JB4-less drive to work tomorrow. No reason to get out of bed now
