I live in New England. My house is in Vermont and go to college in Waltham, Massachusetts (~15 mins west of Boston). Vermont is known for its frost heaves and Massachusetts is notorious for its terrible roads and lack of care for the roads. My boy lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and every time I visit him, I can't believe how smooth the roads are; when he visits me he can't believe how bad the roads are. Anyway, it's safe to say that I experience TERRIBLE roads on a daily basis and anyone around the same area can back me up on this.

When I hit potholes my stock xi suspension would bottom out and sound like I just snapped my car in half. I would cringe every time hoping I didn't damage my car. So as you can imagine I was greatly concerned about how the ride quality would be affected if I decided to get v1s.

I have zero regrets besides not getting them sooner. Riding on v1's, the car is MUCH more planted to the ground and undoubtedly stiffer. When I say stiffer I mean that you don't bounce and feel like you're in a boat when going over bumps. It also has reduced body roll around corners, but its not harsh what-so-ever. You will be very pleased with how the car rides after installing them.
to each their own; i still find them to be overly stiff and provide a harsher ride.

handling was awesome though. can't deny that.

I am in a very similar situation, live in Woburn, work in Waltham first bmw and got the xdrive. I was shocked to see the way people attacked the xdrive suspension at first, but I was driving an accord before.

I am very new to the forum, although I have been lurking on it for a while. I have been looking at a suspension upgrade for the same reasons; Im tired of hitting my head on the roof when these massive potholes show up on I-95.
Anyway I have come to the conclusion the the KW V1s are probably what I am looking for.
Though I am still on the stock run flats, which I know isnt helping.
If I wanted to go about upgrading my handling, ride and aesthetics what should I get first? new tires/wheels or coil overs?

And as long as Im outing myself for not knowing what Im doing as far as upgrading; if I were to purchase the coil overs, what else do I need?
Ive seen mention of bump stops and spacers etc

Thanks

I love the look of my V1s but have found that I am rubbing a lot on the FRONTS but the rears are fine. Does everyone else rub when turning and hitting any bump or dip and I just need to get used to the lowered life? I'm on 19x8.5s and 235s in the front.
