Do you know if you even have and Amp?
If you have a base stereo system there will be no amp.
If amp goes out most of the time it means no sound.
This board usually benefits DIY people the most .
If you take it to somebody that does not know BMW's and/or
BMW Sound system's you will be starting at all over again.

On car stereo is states BMW Professional, any other way to check apart from checking the location of amp? Has an amp or not?

Thanks

Stereo has no front windowsill tweeters.(or tweeters at all)
Hi Fi has window tweeters and is option 676 on a Vin checker readout
Top Hi Fi has a center Dash speaker and two sets of speakers in the rear
on most configurations and is option 677 or 688 on a vin checker.

See second link.

Question Outcome

An independent mechanic advised the software needs to be updated (reprogrammed) to fix the audio system noise coming from passenger front speaker. BMW direct advise £120 for a software update, which may not fix the issue. To run a diagnostic with BMW is about £120.

What other options do I have?

I already gave you the first option re seat the connector to the Radio.
If you can't do any of this stuff yourself you will have to pay someone
to do it.

There really is no diagnositc for the Radio noise at some point you have to
start trying things. If you are not willing to to do homework to find out
what you have or do something , pay somebody you are stuck.

If you don't want to be paying BMW or some other mechanic for diagnostic
fee's get a coding/diagnositc setup from the coding sub forum.
