The New York Times Asks Court to Destroy ChatGPT

For once I actually agree with the NYT.

The current artificial "intelligence" is just a plagiarist and "learns" nothing (making it not intelligent by definition).

Chat GPT etc to me are not true AI forms leveraging natural language processing. They still are large structured and unstructured databases that spit results back on information it is fed. It doesn’t take two sets of seemingly opposing information and determine which is the correct or best answer. At least I haven’t seen that yet. This is why companies are suing for theft of IP since these tools are essentially scraping the internet for data.

I write a lot of copy, It's what I'm doing today. I have played with Chat GPT to write some descriptions and they were laughable and absurd. If this gets worked out then I'm sure my competitors will also use it and we will all end up with the same copy and Google ad's doesn't much like that in the ratings so for the time being creativity and knowledge wins out.
I'm with the Times on this but are they in a glass house as their writers plagiarism X/Twitter and LexisNexis all the time?
