ITS HERE!!!! but FML!!!!

So I ordered the ARKYM rep front bumper for my 335 about a month ago from the same dude that makes the Amuse Ericsson reps (Ben Chen). He has gotten great reviews on his Amuse so I figured I'd pull the plug on his ARKYM

It was shipped via Greyhound because shipping was cheaper (he gave me free shipping actually saved $200) and they "handle the package with more care"...

Bumper came this past Monday, July 18th (day after my 30th BDay )

And well This is my luck:

Corner near fender/sidemarker:

Bottom lip has a crack through it:

Mounting hole is WAY off:

And now to be fair, the bumper actually looks like it was very well made:

I contacted the seller an sent him pics and told him how frustrated and pissed off I am. He understood and he himself is upset as well because it seems the handler/courier (Greyhound) are the ones to blame for mishandling the box. He is sending them the pics and is filing a complaint and told me he is going to do whatever he has to, to make me happy.

Any advice on what I should do?? Do you think it's worth fixing or should I demand he ships me a new bumper??? (that's what I have in mind)...

new bumper no questions asked.
why spend more money on body work when you can just be patient and have a brand new one shipped?
Yes it is the handlers fault, but it should also be packaged to withstand some abuse as these people handling it could care less about your product.

Sorry to see this Vinny. Frustrating... I know all about it.

Yeah I wrote an email saying this:

"So what exactly are you going to do for me??? Your blaming the courier for the damage when reality is YOU bought the CHEAPEST bubble wrap you can find, wrapped the bumper only ONCE and did not take any extra caution to wrap the corners or bottom or anything like that, and simply threw it in a box with no cushioning... Did you honestly think it was completely safe to ship that way????? Then you guarantee fitment but all the holes are obviously not going to line up because they are horribly placed way too close to the edge of the bumper..."

He says it was insured so he's going to do what he can to make me happy...

You guys saying "it can be fixed", why yes it can.... at a cost that should not be the problem of the buyer.

Then you risk the chances of the body work not holding (probably wont happen but you never know) and cracking out on you. And all this for what???? When you can get another one shipped with zero issues (hopefully seller learned a viable lesson).

Quality control is key in business. You cant foresee everything, but you can damn well do your best to make sure things are properly made and wrapped before they leave the shop. "Measure twice, cut once" applies to so many aspects of life and business. Will save a lot of money and keep customers coming back in the long run.

And sending another label prolly will not happen. Jlevisw let me keep the one they sent that was faulty and I sold it cheap to someone who didnt mind a bit of body work to make it happen.

when you buy parts that aren't from the factory, YOU are responsible for footing the bill to complete bodywork, if needed. even if this was in perfect condition, and didnt fit for whatever reason, OP would be responsible for covering that charge. its not that hard anyways.

You have some valid points Alan, however, the supplier owns the product and the condition of the product until it reaches your doorstep.

Exactly!

Sure MAC can fix it. And that IS where I'm taking it. But unless they are fixing it for FREE (which obviously they wouldn't) then why would I even consider coming out of MY pocket a few hundred dollars, when clearly the seller could have just spent an extra $20 on bigger/thicker bubble wrap, and some foam to stick on the edges...? I paid $800 for this bumper, it should have been packed WAY better.

I'm not here to flame the seller, as he IS cooperating so far and has been going back and forth with me on email to make sure it gets taken care of. So after I get everything straightened out I'll make sure to give him a review...

U have some points. But I am NOT responsible for poor packaging, which caused the product to get damaged. The SELLER is. And he guaranteed 95% fitment and I agree nothing is ever fit perfect and body shops have to make adjustments. BUT, that doesn't mean filling in the holes that were made and making new ones should be the "adjustment".

actually, it is. thats exactly what adjustments sometimes are. i agree with you 100% on the packaging though. thats just not right. the only problem i see with that bumper that you should be worried about incase the seller screws you is that crack, which isnt all that hard to fix on your own anyways..

That's fabricating in MY eyes. Not adjusting lol..

But you could be right. This is the first time I've ever bought a bumper for ANY cars I've owned. I usually just had sport packages from the factory.

Maybe Joe or Derek could comment since they are the ones that will be putting it on for me...

Also that crack doesn't go deep. It seems to be the "outer coating". Could probably just be sanded down and refinished easily...

An just to paint another picture, here's the way it was packaged to "assure it doesn't get damaged"...

Wrapped ONCE in the cheapest bubble wrap that is NOT made for heavy duty shipping...
