Fleet of cars, a decoy car, and cash on deals. Sounds a little gangster to me.

Let's just say I lost touch with him during his investment related hotel stay.

Buyer can wear whatever he wants and do whatever he wants; they have the cash.

Seller has to look professional as they need the cash and people don't give cash to people that look like bums.

No but, does it matter on my end ? I'm the consumer and I like to be comfortable. I'm a sales executive by trade and when I see my clients should I expect them to dress in full business professional ? I don't, they can wear shorts for all I care, I'd still take them seriously. Do I dress like a bum when I see my clients ? Sometimes, it depends what I'm seeing them for.

On another note, when I say bum I meant I wear shorts, flip flops and a polo.
Well said.....doesn't matter how you dress or look. See. Many YouTube vids of hood rats/dope boys walking into lambo or Ferrari dealerships and buying cars in cash. Screw that dealer

I purchased (and test drove) my car wearing sweatpants that I got from K-Mart.
The sales associate was friendly, and may have judged me, but he kept his thoughts to himself.

In your case, its hard to imagine a sales associate see you pull up to the dealership in a CLS and then think that you don't have the means to buy a F80. If they didn't see your current car, did it come up in conversation?
Not defending them, but maybe they don't let anyone test drive newly released M's?

Either way, if they don't let you test drive the car, go somewhere else.

It happens. I agree, the sales guy was a chump. I am in the retail industry and you would be shocked how many people come in with their new shiny lexus or whatever in a suit and tie but when it comes time to pay 40 bucks, there cards come up declined. Same is vice versa.

Thanks for the click bait title.

Expected some unemployed meth junkie wondering if he should sell his last possession for his next fix.

I will just go on record as saying that wondering if you should sell on luxury car for another negates your original question.

This. The only time I've been turned down to test drive a car was for a couple Ferraris

^ This

There are plenty of folks who dress nice and don't have an unborrowed cent to their name.

Plus I am not there to impress a sales guy.

Sadly, many car salesmen also know this and they can more easily sucker a fool who wants to look rich than the guy who can buy and sell him 4 times over. Got to sell that extra rust proofing.

The one with money didn't get that way by being stupid and buyin' shit like rust proofing!! [or extended maintenance for that matter]

My partner and I over the years have had a habit of not dressing like total bums, but flip flops, jeans, and a t-shirt/hoodie when buying or looking at cars and we usually take the oldest one in the stable - 97 E36 w/ 200K on it..
- some dealerships don't even get someone to help us and others we get "stuck" with the trainee - i don't want some place that acts like that and i will be on to the next one where they aren't so quick to judge simply by how i look..

Just like a solid car - appearances aren't everything, best look under the hood before you start talkin smack
