Maybe Nissan should have re-worked the stylingon the GTR, refined it, and badged it as an Infiniti... Would that be enough to lure some customers away from the zeh Germans?

I think a new term has been used to describe the cars you mentioned above, hypercars, those mentioned to go along with the likes of the Pagani Huayra and Bugatti Veyron.

I don't think the NSX will compete in that level or should. More along the like of the Ferrari 458, McLaren MP4-12C, Porsche Turbo, Audi R8 and such...

Before yes, now 458, MP4-12C, Gallardo, R8, SLS, LFA, those are supercars.

When you see an M, a 7, an S, a Range, a high end Jag, a high end Porsche, etc., you almost immediately associate that person with success. The perception may not parallel reality, but in many cases perception IS, indeed, reality.
For the same reason that most people who buy a 335i do not buy the M Sport model, I would agree with that. The majority of those who buy any high end car, generally do not know much about them and are only buying them because they are the cars that the uninformed public associates with success. The informed buyer who doesn't give a shit what other people think would certainly buy a GTR because, in that price range, there is little competition in terms of performance. Obviously if you're a real estate agent or someone who needs to bring clients around in your car, any coupe will be impractical and you would buy one of the cars mentioned above.

If Honda can build this and sell it it goes to show that Jaguar made a huge mistake when the droped the C-X75.

A lot of supercars lose money for every model they sell because of the extensive research and engineering that goes into the cars. Examples are LFA, Porsche 918, Veyron.

The hope is that these halo cars are to attract people to buy their lower end models.

Not sure if I like the front end, but golly do I love what I see for the rear, particularly the lights, hopefully it's a full heckblende similar to the original NSX.

That and to use the technology in other cars at some point. The original NSX was the first production car to use VTEC, which at the time was considered one of the biggest automotive innovations when it came to engine design.

Today practically every car has it's own version of VTEC in some form or another. But between now and then, Honda enjoyed that crown for a while as other cars got various iterations of VTEC.

You know the NSX went from transversal NA 60° V6 to longitudinal FI 90° V6? From approx. 400 PS to approx. 600 PS?

The CRX VTEC and Integra both got DOHC VTEC two years before the NSX showed up, but it was the first car that had it in the US.

The only competition is the i8. The NSX performance wise is going to trounce the i8.

I think so. It will be a no brainer if it costs no more than $110k either.

That NSX is like the Half Life 3 of cars. They've been teasing this thing for years now.

True, I just never really cared about the i3 much. I, however, cannot WAIT to see this new NSX out on the streets and see what it's capable of.

I don't think Honda/Acura has produced a single good looking car in the 21st century. Let's hope they turn it around.
