Exclamation Million Dollar Lake Home Intentionally Burned for Demolishing!

Watching this like on local news. Snapped these pics from my TV.
Amazing images!

Back story: Home built in 2007 re-sold to second owners for $700k and appraised today at over $1M. Rear of home gave way while owners were away. Huge fault cracks that run inward. Insurance is NOT covering ANY portion of home or demolition process according to news reports.
Controlled fire using diesel soaked hay.

A home like this in So Cal or FL would cost $10M+

Note the proximity of neighboring homes!

Note the times:

That's crazy! A little too close for comfort for the neighbors. Probably wondering how stable the ground is, and if they're next.

How is insurance not covering the loss of the home? What is the point of having homeowners insurance then? This would financially ruin someone.

There was/is probably some geotechnical clause in the insurance policy and the homeowners assumed that risk..they're SOL

I read on one site that they had the cliffs inspected and the experts said it was stable so they didnt get insurance on geological shifts. Also saw an article that said there are cracks on the cliffs coming from this house over to one of the neighbors so all the houses on the cliff may be in danger.

What kind of environmental protection people would allow the burning a home with plastics, insulation, etc escaping into the atmosphere rather then disposing of it properly.

Also, even without actual fire damage, surely their central A/C will suck in that smoke and smell which is brutal itself. Those folks will be liable for that too.

I for one, no matter how much $$$ I have, would own a house sitting on a foking cliff next to water! I don't care if the cliff had been there for Centuries!

I assume it was too late for a demo due to safety concerns.

Local realtors are probably ignoring calls from that area.

This crap happens a lot on Cape Cod. Dumbasses build/buy houses on oceanfront cliffs and then sit back and watch the edge move closer and closer to their homes.
