Smile Springtime Home Projects!

So even though I am plagued by severe allergies, this truly is my favorite time of year! I love flowers, trees and a lush green lawn! I also like doing small projects that enhance our patio and landscaping. So yesterday I started by refinishing an old vase we've had for over a decade (front door) and bench backyard patio). So I scraped the vase down as much as possible prior to painting (had just begun on the below pic) and then sanded the bench down before painting it.
You guys feel free to contribute to the thread too.

Nice!

Spent all last weekend pressure washing the pool cage and screens. Joy!

Nice work mate. So far I've started fertilizing the grass and slowly bringing it back from wintertime. Garage is about halfway cleaned out, screened in porch is next. Love working outside. Also need to get the Honda mower's blades oiled and the oil changed in the mower itself. Fun stuff.

Thanks guys!

@ P1et, I'm actually 're-screening' the windows of my house. I was about to pull the trigger and purchase replacements frame and all, until my local Lowes guy literally tore my old one out of the frame I brought and showed me how to replace just the fiberglass screen and keep the aluminum frame. At a cost of @ $8 per vs @ $24 each framed! I've done a couple so far and plan to have all 24 done in a week or two.

So far this spring I have put down moss killer on the lawn a couple times (problem in Seattle area). Mowed 3 times and have spread about 12 yards of bark in the flower beds. Only 4 more yards to go. Then I will stain and trim one side of the house this spring. I do one side of the house a year so house looks good and keeps the painting project less overwhelming. Also have to pressure wash driveway and walkways and edge the lawn.

I have a gravel drive, so have the same tasks as you do: spraying product that will prevent weeds and grass from growing for up to a year. It's quite a task, but worth it vs. always having to pick weeds.

I'll post up a pic of my lawn (now dormant like hay) and then in mid May after some TLC!

I'm thinking of trying a pepper garden this year. Does anyone have experience with one? My thumb is pretty green but I hear that peppers are difficult when it comes time to transplant them.

All I have done so far is put the crabgrass preventer stuff on my lawn. I bought seeds and soil for my veggie garden, but temps are supposed to drop again next week so I'm not planting anything yet...
