Cayman S vs 335i

Which one would you pick and why, I'm looking to buy a new car, please list what you think the pros and cons are. If

youve have driven both cars, then even better !

How about you go drive them both and see for yourself? We can tell you that the caymen seats feel like youre getting your ass rammed like a prison bitch but it might not be the truth.

You want statistics go pick up some magazines. Everyones driving experience is different.

I've driven both cars and really like both, im torn in between the two and wanted to opinions which may or may not sway my decision

There are a lot of threads that deal with this comparison. So you might want to search. IMO, the general opinion is that the Cayman looks sexier and provides a higher performance ride (handling is sublime). Cons are (1) the cost, especially the hidden costs of much higher maintenance, insurance, resale, options; and (2) the impractical nature as a daily driver -- too small, no rear seat, bouncy ride, lack of creature comforts. The 335 has an astonishing engine -- if you are into acceleration, it's the ticket. The 335 has a Jekyll&Hyde nature in that it can be an extraordinarily comfortable, competent, and quiet cruiser on the one hand, but a tire smoking beast on the other with superb canyon racing capabilities. It is not as gorgeous as the Cayman, but it is nice to look at and does not scream look at me I'm going through mid-life crisis... The 335 is much easier and cheaper to mod. With a Quaife LSD, PROcede, and proper tires it will run away from even a Cayman S.

If I lived in a metro area like Miami the 335 would win hands down because the automatic transmission is so good.

i would get one if it was an addition to a collection...
but not for a second car...

I have driven both of them, and i could say that when u buy a cayman, u are buying the brand behind the car..as simple as that. It has good ending speed, which i remember is 275kmh...and the suspension is amazing. But u have also have to realize that aftermarket products for the cayman are really but really expensive my best friend just paid almost 5.000dollars for a exhaust system and some k&n filter. which on the other hand u could spend only 2.500dollars to modify a 335 and get a 400hp car.

A competently equipped Cayman is $75000. You can't compare the two in my opinion. You could compare it to the new M3. Then the discussion gets a whole lot more interesting. IF I had the money to drop on the Cayman... I'd wait till the M3 comes out. IF I could "only" afford a $45K car... I'd get the 335i.

I was considering the Cayman S before I got my 335 coupe. I do not regret the decision for one second. They are nearly even stock; throw $5k mods into a 335 and u have a car that can run with a Carrera S. it was a no-brainer imho

u can get a good deal on a cayman right now. U can get like 6 grand off msrp (I know I looked) easy.

BTW.. Cayman S bases for $58,900. Sport config. $70,000+. I'd go for the 335i with Procede on price alone. I've never driven a Cayman S, and from what I've heard... the driving experience may make up for it. If you were going to track the car regularly, I've heard the Boxster and Cayman are track ready and outstanding.

The ass end looks good. See them all over Dallas. Silver looked good. Black just looked funky to me. PROcede, some bad ass rims and steak and lobster for awhile.

I have the 335i with procede and driven the Cayman S for an hour. Power wise, the 335i stock feels slightly quicker (probably because of more torque), and no comparison with procede. Handling wise, the Porsche is better theoretically, although I did all the driving on the freeway with some on ramps. My impression is that the Cayman has better steering feel and mid-engine balance. The Cayman's clutch is a little soft, but probably needs getting used to. Obviously the 335 is more practical, and the Cayman more stylish and rare, with a more unique experience.
