You could take a look at where this rubbing is taking place and maybe solve it with a very small spacer up front. By virtue of how the fender liner is shaped and where the contact is happening, moving outwards just a couple of millimeters might be enough to cure it. The 313s are OEM so they are conservative enough to give you the option.

Sorry to bump up an old thread but I did not want to start a new one since this has some info in it. I'm running Continental DWS's 235/35 in the front and I get the rubbing also. Usually only in reverse though. For those thinking on installing a spacer, I did a 5mm just to flush the wheels a little more with the fender and yea, it looks nice, but it caused more rubbing. It does it in drive now as well just at a certain point for a second depending on conditions (i.e. road, passengers, how much I'm turning, etc...)

Has anyone been running without the vents on there? I do not want to go this route but not sure what else to do short of buying different sized tires.

Anyone else try the zip tie method?

Nice set up...so no rubbing, no spacers and OEM suspension?

Front Rub

I have a 335is. I am running Conti DW 235/35/19 upfront, on a 8.5 x 19 wheel et35. I get a rub when entering a drive way, especially at an angle - even when moving very slowly. A 235/35/19 Potenza RE-11 gave even more rub under same circumstances; larger tire - no surprise.

Is this a vent issue, an off-set issue - or do we need a front wheel well roll ?

Yes. You will notice, when you use the calculator that the rolling diameter is better with the 225/265 setup. Try a little experiment by plugging in those values in the calculator and you will see what I mean...

As far as I'm aware it is an issue with the vents for the secondary coolers

That was the tire and size I was going to get in the spring. Maybe best to stick with the stock 225/255 setup?

Thats what I would guess. Type in the ratios in the tire calculator and check the differences. I can't tell if it is the overall height or overall width that is causing it to rub.

Now it seems when I reverse and turn sharply on pavement that is not perfectly flat I hear what sounds like wheel rubbing from the wheel well. It seems to be when the wheel is turned completely to the right when I am backing out of a parking spot usually. I haven't seen any sign of rubbing on the outside of the tire.
Has anyone else experienced this with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports?
Thanks
Greetings Newera335is,

I just replaced my rear tires with 275/30/19's. In my opinion, they don't look much bigger than the original 255 run flats. They ride better and the tread pattern looks menacing, but no rubbing whatsoever.

Are 313 rims BMW wheels? Got a pic. Here's mine below.

I had some rubbing with 19 x 8.5 and 35 offset with same size tire. It only happened in reverse and passenger side when the wheel is turned all the way to the left. It is the oil cooler vent that is causing it. Removing it is not advisable, since it protects the cooler from road debris, rocks will put a hole in it at high speed. You can try zip tie to keep things tighter as mentioned above, or I have better idea - M3 control arms!! They fix the issue by pushing the wheel out a bit. I am running BMW performance suspension with mild drop in the front (about 1/2 inch).

I have M3 control arms and Dinan Stage 2 suspension; my front drop is about 1/2 " also. My Rubbing is primarily during left turn, but moving forward going up a drive-way - when hitting that initial "bump"/shaved down curb. is there a vent on the driver's side as well for the additional radiator ?

Thanks, - Ray -

Yes, there is a vent on both sides. I'm not sure which is which but one is the oil cooler and one is a secondary radiator.

Thank you. I will look at both of those vents. What is the "fix" with the zip ties ?

Passenger side is the oil cooler, driver is the radiator (I think so please dont blast me if I am incorrect ), since the standard 335 also has rubbing issues with passenger wheel well..

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. 275/30/19. Non run-flats. I picked up a Slime Kit from Pep Boys...just in case of a flat.

I am running Nankang 235/35 and 275/30 on 19x9.5 wheels. Front have no issues but the back wheels rub when going over bumps and dips that work the suspension. I am thinking of maxing the negative camber or buying a more aggressive camber kit. What do you guys think? Car has stock suspension and sits low enough for me

i have a 12' 335is and the PSS 235/35 were rubbing up front. just replaced them with 235/30 PSS and problem solved. i dont like the fact that this size is only available in the Michelin PSS. i'm worried that if they stop making this size i'm screwed in the future.

Front Well Vents

Did the rubbing occur at the front wheel well vents ? Is there are fix for the vents as opposed to smaller tires ?

no rubbing

I have 225 40 19 and 255 40 19 blizzaks on stock style 269.
No rubbing at all.
I run 235 35 19 and 255 35 19 pss on the same rims in the summer without any rubbing either.
Worn out suspension part could cause rubbing issues.
I drive 2008 335i with sport suspension.
