Yes
2)Do you own a helmet? If so, what brand is the helmet?
Arai Quantum C

5) Have you heard of AGV Legendary Helmets?
Yes.

Comfort/Quality/Appearance

6) IF you have, what do you think of them?

1) Yes
2) 6 Arai's (Corsairs mostly, one vintage Schwantz), HJC 12, Momo carbon open face, Fox MX
3) Safety, looks, comfort, ventilation, ease of visor change, weight, construction
4) You can get a highly rated and safe helmet for around $250, you don't need to spend $500 for a safe hat, having said that, don't be too cheap and buy a $50 hat
5) AGV makes good helmets, they used to be a very highly regarded Euro brand but their products took a plung in quality in the 80's. Since Rossi started riding for them their brand and quality have improved, the GP and Ti-tech models are very nice and light. The company is just "AGV", "legendary helmets" is just a tagline.
6) I'd buy and ride one w/o a second thought, to me they are still a sub-tier to Arai and Shoei, and on par or better than Shark, HJC, Suomy...KBC and Icon helmets are junky.

3. Weight, fit, ventilation, visor, liner that you can take out and adjust.
-weight-it is being supported by your neck
-fit-some brain buckets can give you a head ache some have lumps that are uncomfortable
-ventilation-is one that most people probably don't think about. More is better, vents on top are great to get heat out, and you can usually close them when its cold out. A vent below the visor is also nice to help with fogging up and getting some cool air into your nose on a hot day.
-visor-being able to swap visors easilly in a nice feature (scratches, and clear to tinted). I also like a visor that can be open about a 1/4" and stay there, helps to quickly clear fog. I also like a visor that clicks closed.

4. Good ones are not cheap, don't cut corners on your helmet.

5. My old helmet is an AGV. Good quality, a bit heavy mine didn't have all the features that I like, wind noise and buffet. My newer helmet is an Arai, and it is great. Full of features, lighter weight, very comfortable, snug fit that cuts down on wind noise.

If your riding sportbikes, eventually you'll get around to buying an Arai, it's just the way it is.

My auto helmet is also an Arai, they're just the best, and their auto helmets cost almost twice their bike helmets.

Arais are nice, and are no doubt top notch helmets...it's just uncomfortable for me...hurts my head and i can't see very well out of the visor, and i dont like the look of the painted visor latch part...i tried on a Shoei RF1000 and i was sold. Tested it on the pavement at 60mph too held up

Just don't forget there are several different Arai Helmet shapes out there. From Round to oval and that Arai's HAVE to Break in. It's how they establish a fit better than anyone else.

If you've never been properly sized, and properly fitted then you were done a disservice.

For the OP. Arai helmets are not the be all end all, but they are all I will ever wear. I've had my life saved by an Arai and I have a buddy who is only alive because of his Arai. Plain and simple, they fit better, work better, and hold up longer. Hand made, hand inspected, designed and built to work BETTER than the minimums.

Unlike just about every other Helmet manufacturer out there the Arai you see the racers wearing is the exact same helmet you buy off the shelf. Not special one offs, but off the shelf ready to go.

Shoei also makes very good helmets and I would wear one.

I'd stay away from ANY helmet made in China by a Shipping Company (HJC) or made in China by who the hell knows. There is very little quality control involved, and the "plastic" helmets tend to bounce, and be rather poorly made. Just like anything else, you get what you pay for and a helmet that offers tons of "Cool Features" for little money is not what you want to put on your head...

Shop carefully, buy from a local dealer, and be safe, don't trust your head to a budget helmet that meets the "minimum" requirements. Oh and stay off the internet, you never know what you are getting, how long it's been sitting, and how it's been handled.

i have a 2003 honda cbr600rr with 20239 miles on it. i started out with a KBC Racer 1 comet helmet and loved it. i moved up to a Suomy goorber (SP?) gambler helmet just because the KBC started to loosen up too much.

i sugguest you check out helmetharbor.com and newenough.com

Helmets just fit everyone differently and eventually everyone finds a brand that fits their heads better than another. Shoei makes top notch helmets equal to Arai. They just fit differently. Arai, Shoei and AGV are the top tier of helmets as far as quality. Most "hard core" riders usually rock one or the other. Usually if Arai is uncomfortable, then Shoei or AGV usually feel better. HJC, Icon, Scorpion, KBC, Shark and Suomy are the bottom tier, but they do make decent ones for the moola. Usually weight, strength and venting (important to me) make up the difference between top and bottom tier.

1) Do you own a motorcycle?
Yes, custom softtail.

2)Do you own a helmet? If so, what brand is the helmet?
Several. Shoei R1000 and black brain bucket from a Padres game or something. My son wears the Shoei, I rock the brain bucket backwards

3) What do you look for in a motorcycle helmet?
MINIMAL visual interference and venting. With the brain bucket, the chin strap not chaffing when pulled by the wind is the most important.

4) What would be reasonable price for a helmet?
I got the Shoei in '99 for about $300, my friend gave me the bucket. I won't spend more than about $50 on the new bucket, unless it's an SS replica.
