Is now a good time to buy an iphone?

Im slowly making my transition to becoming an Apple fanboy, and Im going to start with an iPhone, but I remember reading about some of the early adopters of the first iPhones getting hosed with shitty phones and drastic, early price drops.

Is there any foreseeable reason to hold of on an iPhone for now?

even if there are any small issues here n there (which I doubt there really are any), the phone and its capabilities are far worth it.

Especially with new applications coming out all the time, (some useless, but entertaining nonetheless heh). There's a lotta good stuff man, a lot of useful time-saving stuff as well. i'd get one asap!

thas the beauty of the phone. even the oldest iphone can be updated with the latest firmware.

There have already been two updates on 2.0....Its now at 2.0.2.

I think he meant the first REAL firmware update. Those were relatively minor bug fixes for what is widely considered alpha-quality software. 2.1 should be out in September and should be significant. Probably will be what the phone should have had as 2.0 to begin with. I've had both versions of the iPhone since they were released. 1.0 was far more stable. More limited, but much more stable.

i bought the new iphone, LOVE it! but absolutely HATE AT&T... i had verizon before... i never lost a call, and rarely had a signal issue. with AT&T both happen on a daily basis... AT&T is terrible! that is my only issue with the phone.

Any experience or comments?

It would be a nice solution, no I pod needed, just I Phone ( so 2 in 1 so to speak)

But do you like the iPhone? I have at&t now and I agree the signal is poor where I live and varies a lot wherever I go. I've had a few dropped calls as well. I've been with at&t for almost 4 years and before that with Nextel. So I don't know what the other company's services are like.

Back to the OP, now may be a good time to get the iPhone with regard to availability. I heard from the people at the at&t store that right now they are supposed to be in stock with out that 10 day waiting period after you order one. Also Best Buy is selling the iPhone starting today I think. So, if Best Buy is now selling them, you know that Apple must have stepped up supply. I'm also contemplating getting it because I will be eligible for an upgrade tomorrow!!

yes it is, I actually stream music from pandora on mine hooked into my car and works awsome.
also all phone book etc links right up, I actually had a harder time with my BB before.

prices won't drop.. I have a MBP, I bought it for $2700, before the upgraded version came out with the LED backlight and graphics card, it was still $2700.. As for the software, even if there are any fixes, a software update should do the trick for most cases..

Funny thing about that is the original iPhone has a battery with more maH than the 3G. WTF...

...if things are consistent with iPhone firmware releases, it'll be a longer wait than that.

Personally I am sticking with 1.1.4 on my 2G until then. Its jailbroke and stable. I dont care much for the app store and thats about the only reason to bump to 2.0.

I love my iphone. I got no problem with dropped calls.. Battery life sucks though.. I got to bring my charger with me everywhere I go......
