83 is not bad. I hope to live that long.

His son died at 28!

I've seen the Sting at least 6 or 7 times. That's my favorite Paul Newman movie. Definitely watched Cool Hand Luke a little too early in life (I was but a wee lad and all I remember are the those eggs). Need to watch that again.

This is a nice, short reflection on his body of work:

He was a great guy, who loved cars, and people. He gave over 250 million to charities!

A sad day.

I wish the best to his family, and I for one will remember him to the day I die. I hope that the up and coming movie stars will be able to fill his shoes.

From WestportNow.com for the local perspective. Westport was Newman's home and the original home of the SCCA.

mattm - thanks for the links.

Remember Paul Newman when you watch a race or are at a track. He considered himself a racer whose acting was useful for funding the racing. He was a car guy and an important car guy and he will be missed by all who've seen him race or had a chance to spend a moment with him at a track.

He was one of us.

Great actor and the fact that he gave all his salad dressing/popcorn profits to charity was inspirational.

I just have to say it...

What we here....
Is a failure...
To communicate!

I loved the way he stuffed those eggs in his mouth.

Man I miss him already! He is;
