iPhone vs. iTouch, help an idiot out

I've been with Sprint for years, and it works well. I'm interested in an iPhone or iTouch, but want to know if I'm losing out if I just get an iTouch? Will the iTouch run all the cool applications (virtual dyno, etc.) that the iPhone will?

Thanks in advance!

iphone and ipod touch are completely different things. iphone is everything including phone and ipod touch is just a regular ipod that can get apps in form of an iphone.

ipod touch can't make calls and is not a phone but everything else you have on there like ipod, watch videos, apps, etc.

Sorry, I didn't clarify enough, and I apologize.

I know the iTouch has no telephone functionality. I have a regular old cell phone that works well. Is there any other reason I should consider an iPhone over an iTouch for functionality besides the telephone?

well as states before the only difference is the phone functionality lol. so you just need to ask yourself, do i need the phone or not?

if you just get the itouch there is no contract with att you need to sign up for so that is the only purchasing difference.

Why carry two devices? Carry an iPhone and that's all you need.

Go with the iPhone.

-It can do everything the iPod touch can do and then some.

-Besides making calls, it allows you to *almost utilize it's full potential with surfing the web and everything else online. (Almost b/c 3G is fast, but when it comes to internet speeds, nothing will ever be fast enough.)

-The iPhone can use the 3G/2G networks anywhere (well usually anywhere), where as you'd have to rely on wi-fi for the iPod touch... and thats another pain in the ass.

-iPod touch has a max capacity of 32gigs right now, but soon the iPhone will go up to 32gigs, so that shouldn't matter.

-It does everything, so why bother carrying around 2 devices?

I think you made a smart choice by getting the Itouch(yes, that's what I call it too).
I would consider the Iphone if it wasn't ATT exclusive and on their buggy 3G network. I hate ATT and their coverage lately and wouldn't want to be locked in. Plus the plans they make you buy to have the Iphone are ridiculous.

I have Sprint also and like the coverage and the cheap prices I get. Sometimes it is a pain to carry around two devices but I have two that work really well at what they're supposed to do.
32GB itouch for all my music and some movie viewing pleasure. Plus I can buy all the apps and tune into online radio stations. Plus, I have push email setup at work now that they updated the software for the itouch.

NO!! That's not what it's called! iPod Touch ≠ iTouch. Let me explain:

There is a such thing as a iPod Nano, now you don't hear any of the retards out there referring to it as an iNano. The same goes for the Video iPod... Don't be dumb, call it what it is supposed to be called, or the internet will break!!

LOL! My calling it an iTouch was due to unfamiliarity with the device and never having used one before. Now, with almost two days of owning my iPod touch and loving it, I am a lot more familiar with it. I am so glad I went with this instead of something like a Nano.

Also, thanks brocken for your input!

Thanks for calling me dumb. I can call the device whatever I like, why do you care?
I'd rather say itouch because it sounds funny and it's one word instead of saying ipod touch.

Did you get the newer itouch? One of my coworkers purchased one and it looks thinner than mine. I was reading it has the accelerometer as well instead of the regular sensor.
