Waiting for the Blackberry Bold

Is anyone on the forum waiting for the release of the Blackberry Bold?
This is going to be my first Blackberry and looking forward to the swap.

I don't see anything so new and exciting about the Bold, except for the new OS (4.5), which really can run on any 88xx series Blackberries.

I'm getting an iPhone after 6 years of BB, because its gonna be the same thing a new package. Im kind of over it...

Plus i would be able to run this thing on the iPhone.... (and many many others that BB will never ever have)

People are looking forward to the Bold because it is a phone to get business done with and will be the most feature packed Blackberry ever.

When it comes to heavy duty emailing & messaging nothing comes close to a Blackberry or a WinMo device with a full qwerty keyboard.

The iPhone is very pretty, but you can't even copy / paste with the piece of shit.

Gonna wait and try it out first before deciding. BB has been around for a long time but hasn't developed anything out of the ordinary. The Iphone has a lot of potential.

@solefald: Have you seen the mixmeister scratch app for the iphone? Lol you could practice DJing on the run =]

blah blah blah. Don't be a hater. This is a SOFTWARE feature and I'm pretty sure it Apple will add it in one of the future updates. Yes, it hasn't been a priority to them, but they never said its not coming.

And as far as real keyboard goes, bunch of my friends have iPhones and they type as fast as i do on the BB, after being a heavy user for the past 6 years.

I'm waiting for the bold. The 8800 I got now is great except for the lack of a camera. I'm running the OS 4.5 and BIS 2.5 update with html emails and they load prety slow with EDGE and really needs 3G.

Hater?

I've owned an iPhone, and there is no excuse why it doesnt have such a basic feature that every Blackberry has had since day one.

I guess MMS, Video recording weren't at the top of Apple's priority list either, even the crappiest phone from any carrier have these features

I have an 8800 and was thinking of getting an iPhone, but no cut and paste??? Didn't realize that. I use that all the time.

I find the iPhone keyboard hard to fat finger for sure.

I've had the BB Bold (9000) for two weeks and it is way better than the 88xx, the screen resolution is unbelievable and the keyboard is much better than the touch screen (iPhone)...
They also improved the sound and speakerphone...
Also, the roller ball is much improved from the 88xx...

check out this article guys.. its the notorious iphone 3g vs blackberry bold yeah you knew this was coming!

Its a pretty good article IMHO, but honestly I want a phone, not a toy.. as much as I like the iphone and mac in general (MBP user! ) I'll take the BB Bold over the iphone 3g anyday.

I agree the BB is the best workhorse for corporate use. I have iPODs.

To me the iPhone is a iPOD first, phone second.

Since AT&T is subsidizing each iPhone by $325 to gain market share. The iPhone should be closed to $500-$700. Instead they make some of the money back on the rate plan.

Corporate America will not go iPhone until it is offered on several carriers. As a result, the IPOD crowd are the ones mostly getting them, and small dinky businesses.

Once it goes to multiple carriers, Apple will have a challenge to deliver a $99 iPhone.

I'm too a BB user. I am very excited about the BB Bold.

I am a fan of QWERTY keyboard, because I am a frequent internet user, texter, and emailer.

The iPhone doesn't have a keyboard but it does the trick. However, it leaves prints all over the face which is annoying. I am constantly reminding myself to wipe it after a few sentences or so. I'm naturally trying to keep it clean, because, hey, let's face it, iPod is cool to look out.

I can't say much for the BB Bold yet, but I do know the iPhone eats the battery like a fat kid in a candy shop.

With all the 3G, Mp3, touch screen, and bright resolution, the iPhone definitely will need improvement in this department.

One may argue that the phone's UI is the most important aspect, being that we are constantly flipping through the right commands. iPhone's UI is great that it's fast and accurate. However, with Bold's new OS, who knows, it may just be competitive, we got the roller! =)

I find the iPhone keyboard to actually be far superior to most hard button QWERTY keyboards. I had a WM devices before with a QWERTY keyboard, and I actually, much to my surprise, type much faster on the iPhone.

I wouldn't get it before because of the lack of 3G and Exchange support for work, but now it does everything I want and then some. Copy and paste IS lacking, but in reality, I don't typically need to copy and paste a whole lot. It's positives make up for that one small negative. Also, no video recording or MMS is of no importance to me at all. Yes, as someone said "even the crappiest phone from any carrier have these features", but also almost every phone that does have video recording takes videos that look like absolute shit, and I know almost nobody who actually uses MMS. I know some of you do, but Apple is right. Email is absolutely going to take over MMS. There's no question about that.

But in regards to someone before saying it's an iPod before a phone... that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, if anything, it's a mobile application device before it's a phone... before it's an iPod. To those of you who used an iPhone before, you owe yourself to try one again with the new App Store. There are so many applications that you never had before on a phone, that you download and just look at and say "wow... this just SHOULD be on a phone. How have I lived without this?". Apps like the yellow pages where you can make it tell you whats near you based on your GPS location, or just look up numbers in general. White Pages apps, the Dial Zero app that has customer service numbers for almost any company you can think of, and simple things like the Box Office app that tells you the closest theater and play times. And what ties it all together is the integration the iPhone provides. If an app lists a phone number, you click it and it dials. If an app lists an address, you click it and it opens in Google Maps. It's just such a good experience when you have everything you could ever want, and it all works together.

In the last week and a half or so that I've had an iPhone, I wouldn't go back to my WM device if you paid me. It just doesn't, and never will, have the application support that the iPhone has. And the BB doesn't add anything for me either, other than one more headache trying to make sure you have Blackberry support on corporate mail servers and crap like that. Yes, the Bold looks beautiful... until you see the big ugly QWERTY keyboard on the front of the device. That just looks.... old to me, for lack of a better way to describe it.

Now, if you want to hold out for a Blackberry, wait for the Storm. I'm very interested to see what they are doing for the keyboard on that after all they've talked about. It should be an interesting device.

Edit: Whoa, long post, haha. I like gadgets so I can go on forever. Trust me, I'm far from a fanboy of anything, and I wouldn't have had an iPhone before, but the new iPhone 2.0 software, and especially the 3G and full GPS make it an unbeatable phone in my opinion.

More power to both Apple and RIM. The fiercer the competition, the better the result for us.

Frankly, RIM may still have the edge in messaging, but the power of the iPhone is in its OS, which you have to admit is formidable. RIM is in for a good fight. As long as they keep innovating, there will be room in the market for both brands.
