Hey everyone,

So yesterday my buddy and I tackled the brakes. I had lips on the rotors, no idea when brakes were replaced before my purchase in January '13, was tired of brake dust and the worn rusted look of calipers and rotor drums. So I purchased:
-Zimmermann Rotors
-ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid
-VHT Caliper Paint + degreaser (Autozone)
-Akebono Brake Pads

Please check out the pictures below. Pics aren't the best but ill work on some better angles and full shots once I'm back in town. Only driven about 15mi so far with new brakes so this is a project overview and not a rotor/pad review. I will say the VHT paint worked great and dried quick. Very happy with the clean look I've been going for and will enjoy not looking at rust going forward!

Thanks for checking out my post!

Edit: Photos fixed. Sorry for "Pic Fail"

Before

Front Caliper

Caliper inside w/ stock pads

Back Caliper

Autozone VHT High Temp Paint

Calipers disassembled and Sprayed

Caliper up-close with 2 coats

Rotors

Zimmermann Rotor up-close (w/ Zcoat)

Rotors taped for painting of drum

Bypassed the annoying sensor by twisting wires together and zip-tie out of the way

Used some ATE brake fluid (left). Would recommend a Liter if you plan to Flush

Now my wheel needs a good bath (Z coat still showing since I hadn't driven car yet)

Best Pic so far with Iphone. I'll get the Canon out and update my whole "garage" for profile shortly

looks great...i like the flat black. I went with gloss black on mine and its hard to keep it glossy cuz of all the debris and brake dust despite having Akebonos

I have Zimmermann coated rotors in my 335i and they are great! Very similar to OEM rotors, but they are probably better than OEM.

I did a very similar job on mine last month. With a white car, my personal choice would have been red.

Too much daily city driving for me to stick out like that. I need the sleeper look

Btw, is there anyway to spray paint my calipers( at least the outside face) without disassembling them. Probably naive question, but I have very limited tools to work with.

Cleaning process was probably the most tedious task besides taping all the rotors up. It was helpful having a hard bristled brush. Spending 5 min on each should be fine. If you go with a lighter Olof such as yellow or red I'd put a little more time into the cleaning

335i e90 brake caliper paint? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87099

I know a few threads on here have people doing them while still on car. Lots of prep work though and the toughest thing would be the cleaning while there attached to rotors.

I think you would want to stick to hand painting if you choose to leave them on the car. Then the prep work and plastic would be a lot less work.
