Do a cost analysis to determine if it is worth your time/money. Unless hearing that someone else has to drive as far as you might have to is enough to make a decision concerning your employment. (which I hope to god it isn't)

Oh yeah.. and there are about 10 separate threads about THIS EXACT TOPIC.

I drive 38 miles of pretty awful traffic! The only good thing is I get to listen to a lot of music and talk radio, and by the time I get home whatever may have bothered me from work is all gone.

you're a smart man...

I used to only have to drive 25 miles to work but it would take 2 hours each way.. When the opportunity presented itself.. I moved. Never jeopardize an opportunity for advancement for the sake of luxury. Otherwise you will forever be recognized as someone who isn't willing to take the necessary steps to further your career with that company.

32 miles each way… sucks, but it was a good career opportunity.

Wise! Never thought of it like that. I moved almost 500 miles for a new job.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

^^^ wowzers!!! Mine was about 60 miles round trip. But I worked graveyard so traffic was never really an issue at night or early morning. Driving my car is therapeutic for me so even if I had to drive farther I wouldn't mind it at all

20 miles each way. Takes me 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.

I think I actually started a similar thread about a year and a half ago. I was contemplating a job that had a 40 mile commute each way. Decided not to take it. I have since found my current job and I think my commute is perfect. My previous drive was 3 miles, which took 8 minutes. Not far enough.
