abt programming the key

sorry guys, I know this is a stupid question, but I really dont understand, u guys talked alot abt the sept software update, well my car was ordered in early Nov, and delivered by the end of the month, and I checked this post http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=auto+lock, how come my menu dont have those functions, the only sub function for key are those measurement thing, if in some cases, my software needs to be updated, do I need to book in with the service dept. or just bring the key and they will do it with the key??? Thanks....I'm really confused!!

mine works the same way as yours. I think it's a pre-sept build with old software thing. I'm planning on calling the dealership late this week

Couple of things, You "ordered" your car in early Nov and got it by the end of the month.... Were was the car produced? Seems like a very short time from order to delivery unless it was already on its way over or at another dealer. Do you know when the car was produced? (There should be a sticker on the drivers side door jam with a "born on" date).

The software for this in the car, not in the key. So they would have to update the car (which from what I understand can be a rather lengthly process) and will need to be booked with the service department.

Most likely your car was BUILT before September and has been bouncing around in inventory. If that is the case, there is no way to update it. Now, we all know that there COULD be a way beause it's just software - but they won't.

You can get the newest software update and tell your service guys what settings you want - for us pissed-on premies that is the best we can do.
