They look like fixed spot lights to me.. Probably for grabbing people's attention when in crowds/broadening area that can be viewed when cruising down a dark street??

jsut a thought... why do the CTB get such crappy ass cars? lol the local force seems to get all the new ones now a days Malibu, Charger etc... cant fucking tell which one is a cop car anymore esp at night... I'm so used to the damn Ford Crown Victoria's...

yup.. license plate readers.. those things are 30-50 grand a pop. I have seen one in action and they are worth EVERY PENNY..

They're not for warrants, they're to check if the vehicle's plates come back as a stolen vehicle.

Wow..that looks pretty ELITE..makes me want to be an NYPD police officer.

At first glance I thought they were Doppler radars for checking speed.

Speaking of NYPD..I remember seeing these guys in Penn Station all the time...are they still around? (not exactly those guys but the heavily armored law enforcement personnel)
