This was the previous ghettomount(tm):

Edit: btw, great representation of Terra leather color...

This was much better than the rig I used to shoot my videos over the weekend. I took a $30 tripod and strapped it to the headrest with a bungie cord.

It got the job done but I really like the looks of your new one. I'm going to have to break down and buy one.

It's really an EXCELLENT mount. The only problem I had with it was after I hand tightened the screw for the bottom of the camera, the camera would still twist. The solution to this is to have the camera facing 90 degrees to the left of where you want it pointed, hand tighten the screw, then hold the screw and turn your camera (slightly more leverage). Just be careful how hard you twist it. 1/4 should be plenty.

It's actually a great mount. I'll try to find a video I shot while using it. However a lot of stuff was also shot by hand.

Here's a video I shot using the mount (only one I could find ATM). The quality is crap because of Youtube, and I don't have my video editing software anymore. I would have removed the audio as well.

Mine, yes I could, but I don't think the shark fin would stay attached to the car. I have clamped it successfully to the door handle, fender, and headrest. I don't think I need much more than that for versatility, although the suction mount ones allow more flexibility for windows and roof POV shots.

Just bought this, exited to try it out. I'll post some HD footage from my Samsung NV24HD (720p H.264).

Finally got mine today. It is a little bit too low and too far towards the passenger sdie, I'm going to look for an extension for it. Otherwise it is great.

I would like to be able to see a bit of the hood and the ground in front of the car.

+1 for CruiseCam. Have used it on many a track day, and autox. Cheap ($40), and really EZ to install.

One tip, mount it on the driver's seat head rest. That way, you get the stabilizing effect of your weight holding the seat down. I noticed it helped a little bit for me.

Promised sample footage:

I wobbles a bit on the long arm, this camera has optical image stabilization so it wasn't too bad. I have some software that should get rid of the rest.
