Electric baseboard heater disconnect question.

I have two baseboard heaters in the living area, controlled by one thermostat. The area is small, and I have a couch against one of them. How can I safely disconnect that one so that only the other is controlled by the thermostat and will work? I want the one behind the couch disconnected completely, but reversible.

TIA.

im pretty sure both of them wired to the same thermostat. take the plastic cover off. there should be terminals were wires are connected. should be pretty straight forward from there.

Oh, I was actually thinking of disconnecting the baseboard heater at the actual heater. I can't get the damn cover off. I don't want to break anything.

I'll give it a shot.

It's a little hard to say, but I'd start with the thermostat as suggested. It all depends if they are wired series or parallel, either on the signal or power. The power to the unit itself is probably series, so if the one behind the couch is first, you'll need to re-make the connection to get the other to work. I would suggest you consult an electrician - there are many ways they could be wired.
