I'd gladly pay more if I didn't live in a one room apartment lol. I don't understand what could be sucking up soe much energy. I wonder if the meter is wrong.

A lot of it also depends on the a/c units you have. A lot of older apartments use inefficient or older units (10 Seer, etc. the new standard is 14 SEER). This is why people who live in new apartments can sometimes have lower monthly rates, and you can end up having a nicer place too. I dont' know if thats Nikki's situation though...

Our apartments were renovated 2 years ago when we first moved in, but I don't know if they replaced the a/c unit. The thermostat is definitely new. The stove, dishwasher, and washer/dryer are all 2 years old.

Maybe you should find out how old and the efficiency rating of your unit. And if your usage is unreasonably high for a single bedroom apartment, under normal usage, you may have some room to haggle the landlord with.

A new thermostat doesn't mean anything.

Nikki, could be worse. You could be getting screwed with A/C bills in the summer, and heating bills in the winter, like the rest of us who live in states with seasons

last winter was a real b**ch up here in the heating dept.

I called about it and they said that its because gas prices are rising.

Am I the only one who feels like I'm getting it in the butt from the electric company?

Get a timer to shut off or increase temp when you are not there. Even a few degrees higher would help. Window unit or central? Probably not the most efficient ac with a terrible SEER rating.

it's central air. we keep it at 74. they suggest 78 but i'd bake. i don't want to leave it much warmer when we leave because we have dogs and a cat.

Pets have endured higher temps. But see if you have a air filter in the apt. If so check and see if it is dirty. Dirty filters can cause havoc and cause your ac to run less efficient. other than that move to Hawaii. Most homes do not have A/C and just use the trade winds to cool the house. Houses are lucky to even have central air since most homes are not built with the ventilation system. I priced to have it included in the build and it added an extra $40,000. Pricey!

My brother uses the Volcano to smoke. Its a vaporizer that takes out just the THC in the herb, and you can literally resmoke it. I just finished.. and wowza...
