Do 'Mini-Cats' work?

So doing some digging on downpipes and state inspections (monitor readiness and stuff of that sort). And came across a thread that talked about attaching a so called "mini cat" to the post o2 sensor. (https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...2#post29162212) My question is, does this shit actually work? Cause to me it seems too good to be true. I mean, not having to take off your catless downpipe to pass inspection? cmon, that just sounds like a dream. Obviously if you ran this long term it would not be good, but for an inspection it sounds like a great idea. Has anyone tried this yet? I haven't seen this strategy very much, most people just go the route of swapping cats off and on.

Not reliably. Some have had luck, but far and few in between.
