UCSB shooting

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...rbara/9532405/

Really sad over this. Guy killed 8 people and ruined a lot of lives because he couldn't get laid. I also feel guilty because I am pissed off he drives a black BMW and I maybe I shouldn't be thinking that as much as being sad for the families that were impacted by this.

His youtube vid the day before

Clearly he did not have mental health issues.

This country's a joke. We just want to sweep mental illness under the rug and blame everything bad on tangible things because it's easier.

It's impossible that NO ONE saw that this guy needed help. We just care more about Twitter and turn a blind eye to the people that need help.

My prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims. R.I.P.

Rant over.

Exactly, apparently there is a mental issue for every single problem that happens in this world. If we go by the books, everyone in this world would be diagnosed with a mental issue.

I don't know if we're on the same page. The United States is lagging behind European countries when it comes to diagnosing and treating people with serious mental health issues. There's less stigma associated with mental illness there and as a consequence, people get the help they need more frequently.

For example, it wasn't until the last decade or so that drug addiction was treated as a genetics-based mental illness here in the U.S. Prior to that it was just viewed as deviant behavior or lack of will-power.

Anyway, that's a discussion for another day. At the moment, I just feel terrible for the families of the victims because this is something that could have been avoided if at least ONE person would've stepped up to force this troubled kid to get help.

When someone is willing to kill multiple innocent people, his/her problems run beyond sex.

And I don't know much about his father other than he is a second-unit director.

Regarding someone failing to act to help this kid, this is tragic: "An attorney representing Rodger's family said that law enforcement contacted [him] after they expressed concern over his YouTube videos [but because police] found him to be 'polite and kind' after they talked with Rodger, [the police] . . . took no further action, according to ABC News."

This, plus the unwillingness to help those who need it, is so strange. I can't understand, why there are people parking 100k cars next to a person who has nothing to eat, and they just walk past the persons in need of a simple meal.

No one gets involved. I'm in the middle of a project of trying to help one who had a melt down, lost her kids and is trying to claw her way back up, but it's unreal how difficult it is to make others participate. Everyone just want to take care of themselves, and not open their eyes. Only thing that wakes people up, is when someone finally flips, and does something awful. That's just the sickest thing ever, and I admit that we on the old continent do exactly the same thing.

And this is how you rant, Ybb, you need a few lessons still.

Idiot-Elliot

1. If a guy (or even a girl) who flashes Armani glasses, BMW, or dress heavily, it can be major turn off. It only works well at a bar w/ semi-drunken girls.

2. Being a freak and weird actually repels women.

3. 22 and virgin? So what? What's so big of a deal for him to make a YouTube video about it? If even single guys were butt hurt about something, and uploaded those video on YouTube, they would need massive upgrade on data stoage.
Well, if he waited, he would've probably get a train load of women to date semi-annually. I've seen 25+ old virgin becoming very active during their late 20s.

4. Same goes with women. If a beautiful woman is driving a BMW, Armani glasses, brand clothes, with her heads high up, I would NOT be talking to her either.

Well said. She's lucky to have a friend like you. Every day on my commute, I pass a homeless man/panhandler. Every day, I bring him food. Whether it's a candy bar or a single-serving box of cereal, I always make sure I have something in case he's there. Sometimes doing little things for other people can make a big difference in their lives.

Interestingly, Elliot's parents noticed his youtube rants a couple of weeks ago and actually informed the police about it. They said they were worried about their son. The police interviewed Elliot, determined that he was a "polite young man" and left it at that.

The guy was clearly part of a top 1% family and somehow he couldn't leverage that to get chicks. It's pretty sad that he threw it all away.

Yep, mental health care in this country is a joke. Apparently the parents called police on the shooter several weeks ago because of alarming youtube videos he had posted. Obviously nothing was done...

EDIT: Just saw NemesisX's post... What a shame.

It is tragic, and now the innocent victim's families has to go through this

I don't blame that he had a BMW (looks like E92), and had a firearm. Unless he obtained the vehicle and/or firearm illegally.
I also do not blame women in UCSB for not dating him. Maybe he did not tried hard enough? Or he tried too hard to impress UCSB women? They can sense the fakeness from miles away.

Society? Friends? I don't know. It looks clearly that it is manly women and getting laid issue to him. I don't know. Maybe he should have asked advices on:
"how to talk to women"
"how to have a successful date?"

IT is Elliot's fault.
It isn't BMW E92's fault for transporting his ass to commit a crime.
It isn't Firearm's fault for crazy wack job misusing it.
It isn't USSB women's fault for not dating him or NOT having sex with him.

Exactly. As I said, it would have been impossible for someone to not notice this behavior. But you missed my other post where I included an extended version of that quote, didn't you?
