This is kind of off topic but i keep getting dreams of punching things or something and ill wake up from the dream trying to punch something. I know i moved my hands because when i am conscious my hand is still in the action of moving. Same thing goes for my leg.

I used to have a job that I hated more than anything else in my life. I changed my carrier about 14 years ago and I love what I do now (computer programmer).

I have had and still having countless of dreams about my previous job. And each time I wake up, realize that it was a dream (more like nightmare) and be thankful that I have I job that I love

I have reoccurring dreams about my teeth falling out. I grind my teeth at night too. I always wake up to make sure they're still in there lol

Also have been having reoccurring sexual dreams about my ex ex ex....ex(?) gf. Those dreams I don't mind so much, they can keep reoccurring

I always go to bed wondering what I'm going to dream about.

When I'm in the state you get when you are about to actually be fully asleep, I guess half-awake? I forget what the actual wording is for that state of mind, sometimes I'll twitch so badly my body jumps in the air off the bed and I'll wake myself up fully from it. Never have figured out what that was all about....

anyone care to guess the meaning of the "gun not going off" dream?....this one seems common.

I am really surprised to hear that so many people have had the "punches not doing damage" and "out of control car" dreams. I have those same dreams come back every so often. Those dreams take a significant toll on my perspective of myself for a couple hours after they occur because I have been and continue to practice the martial arts for many years, so that feeling of not being able to defend myself or the people I care about terrifies me.

I also take my driving ability seriously compared to others that I know, not to mention I spend a good amount of money on my modes of transportation, so seeing them get damaged in my dreams is very upsetting until I wake up of course.

Someone else mentioned it earlier in this thread, but I do the "half asleep/half awake jump" from time to time as well.

I have been told that I scream or cry in my sleep once in a while when I have a lady friend over for the night, but the female friends that have been around for a little while always tell me it's PTSD even though I don't do war stories. They just know I've been around because of my occupation.

At first I just thought I had brain damage from being punched a lot, or maybe I just had issues, but now I see we are all nuts, lol

I rarely dream now days (at least not that I can remember) I use to have a lot of dreams when I was younger though. The one I had all the time and was rather odd was that I could fly... but only a couple feet off the ground in superman position. So I would hover around the neighborhood delivering mail... apparently that's what you do when you can only fly a few feet above the ground.

Its funny you say that. I used to have this dream where I would be in a large multi-story home, you could stand in the center and each level had rooms and balconies and all kinds of stuff. I would be able to jump from the bottom level to any of the levels I wanted. The scariest part was I had the true feeling that I was falling, and I would descend and feel as if my legs were going to explode from under me, but I always landed safely. The feeling of falling would not wake me up, but I would definitely feel that same sensation in my body (much like a huge drop on a roller coaster).

I still have dreams similar to this day, but its not always at this "house".

Its always the same thing. Its something over top of me as Im laying down that I cant see and I cant move, I cant scream, I can't get away. It feels very malicious and mean. But the strange part is, I dont know if Im awake or asleep when this is happening. It feels very much as if Im awake because when its over everything around me is just as I remember as if I was not sleeping. Each time it last about 20-30 seconds.

I get this all the time. It is when you wake up and your body is still paralyzed and your brain is freaking out, trying to understand what is happening.

This brings back memories of AP Psych back in High school, one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. Is there something in your life that you are having a hard time doing? It can be viewed from a few perspectives, each with a different answer. As crazy as this may sound, it seems as though the gun not working could be your brain telling you to try something else to solve a hardship/task you are encountering. The unconscious mind is pretty crazy stuff when you begin to look into it.

He's also in "Let's go to Prison" and equally awesome in that. Hilarious movie.
