Question Help On Redoing Garage Floor

last summer i got my garage re-cemented. thus it is higher and i put some paint protection on top, like those waxes things. but the garage floor paint is peeling and cracking. luckily someone was going through the same process and came with the ucoatit solution.

looking at the ucoatit directions the surface must be smooth and flat for best results. now im thinking should i sand the garage floor to get rid of the paint on there and smooth it down or should i just repaint the floor using the same paint i did and apply the ucoatit on top after it dries?

help needed. thanks.

I went the easy, quick route:

Home Depot sells outdoor carpet runners (by length; black or green). Bought 4 lengths (2-car garage) and put it over freshly painted floor (using regular concrete paint) .... going on 3-years and still looks great!

Unless you prep the floor properly or want to spend big $$ for a professional, the paint will eventually peel.

You should sand with a diamond blade sander to get all the crap off first. Then, you should fill the imperfections of the floor.

You'll need to remove the old paint. If it's peeling / cracking, it was likely put on too soon, before the concrete could fully cure.

Call/visit a flooring store/installer, who installs garage floors, to talk with a professional.
