What kind of rap did he do? As long as it's not gangsta rap then I wish that he rest in peace.

I sort of thought about that, but eh, just getting out my RIP. Not really a fan myself, just a fan of UGK's older material. I haven't listened to rap in probably close to a year or more.

edit: one of the best albums this year..

but yeah for anybody not familiar with rap or southern rap in particular U.G.K. was one of the founders in laying the groundwork for the region to be at the forefront of rap today. Pimp C's production and lyrics were always on point and influenced many. He'll definitely be missed and it's kinda sad since just less than a year ago Bun-B was already holding U.G.K. down while he was locked up and campaigned for his release - now he'll have to hold it down for the both of them for life..

Good to see a few people know who he is. Everyone who listens to JayZ should know who they are since they were part of the song "Big Pimpin".

It's still unclear how he died. They're stating natural causes. Some are speculating against that since he is a rapper. But art doesn't always imitate life. There could be any number of illnesses that ran in his family.

According to TMZ.com yesterday, no drugs or drug paraphanelia was found on him or in the room.

If people haven't heard of UGK, look at some of their older stuff, "Front, Back, Side to Side"(remade this year with TI), "Pocket Full of Stones", "One Day"(one of my favs), I could go on.

Renegade, thanks for summarizing that. I should have done that in my initial post, just simply didn't think about it.

He was found dead in his hotel room on Sunset Boulevard after his family couldn't get in touch with him after he was supposed to have checked out. No signs of foul play, so no real info will be gained until a toxology report comes back but I read L.A.P.D. is investigating it as if it is a homicide.

I was hoping we could make it through one thread without someone disrespecting the dead. Guess we can't.

And he was well respected kind man. Obviously you've never met people who grew up in dangerous areas. You should sometime.
