Nice watch or //M school?
My 10th anniversary is coming up and my wife told me I can either get a nice watch or go to M school. I will be picking up an e9x 6MT M3 soon. I wont be tracking it much, maybe 2-3 times a year. I love watches, but don't have a really nice one yet. I'm really torn here. Has anyone gone to M school? Is it worth it? I mean I know it would be a blast, but would I really benefit from it by learning how to drive my car better? I'm not a pro by any means, but my dad is and has taught me a lot. I can heel/ toe very well and know good lines and how to pick them. Is there anything else I would pick up there?
Thanks in advance. |

There are lots of HPDEs you can go to that cost a couple hundred bucks. I would get a nice watch and go to those events.
The M school gets great reviews but it costs about as much as buying a cheap E30 or E36, insurance, basic maintenance, and going to 3-4 car-club run HPDEs. Also depends on your wife's taste in watches, if she's going to get you a Movado or something, take the M-school. If she's going to come home with an IWC, take the watch. Oh, and congrats on 10 yrs.

Thanks Goat. I was kinda thinking the same thing. Something cool for me though going to M school. Ive always been a die hard BMW guy and the M school experience I'm sure would be out of this world cool, but I'm just not sure if the coolness will be enough to justify it if I won't really learn that much. The watch will be my choice. Either Omega Seamaster, or Rolex Sub, I havent decided yet.

Congrats on the anniversary. You should consider a Tag Carrera as well. The black faced version is a stunner in person and will keep you smiling way longer than 2 day driving event.

Thanks for the replies and congrats. I've pretty much made up my mind to get a watch over the school. That is a sharp watch too, I'm just not much of a Tag guy. Too pretty looking for me.

Thanks everyone. I guess Bing240sx is right, I should have put this in the watch section. I think the answers there may have been a little biased though. I have decided on a watch. I think I'll get an Omega though, I like them a bit better than Rolex. Ill just "settle" for some BMWCCA track events instead

why don't you do Zero Gravity if you're looking for something memorable?

same feeling as if you were in space or you can try dog fighting: http://aircombat.com find city closest to you, and hit it up. I've done both, honestly some of the funnest shit I've done. Video/pictures to keep with you forever, and a cool story to tell. both are cheaper than a submariner and IMO funner than a track day. just an idea, since you're looking at 8-9k$
