SO i have been reading threads and threads and post about this and looks like in the community its about 50 50 on supporters and those who do not support.
My question will i see any detrimental or advantageous effects if i run maybe 3-4 gallons of e85 fulled by 93. Yes i understand people are running 50/50 for 40k and have no issues, 40/60 60/40 etc etc. My car is stock right now. Parts to be added are CAI, JB4, DPs, hopefully IC and i believe that is it. I know that the small mixture will help with timing, but is our timing that bad that it needs to be amended? |

now if you go to the MAP on your JB4 that supports E85 Pump, then you will see a bump in ponies. I have a pro E Tune @ E50 (50% ethanol not 50/50) blended with ACN 91, and have a kick ass ride with just DCI and FMIC. High Ethanol is a beautiful thing sir.

for a quality thread - lots of good info here.
FWIW, I started experimenting with E85 about a month ago based on a post from VNeBLOB42, and it's definitely cleaned up my timing issues from California's ACN 91 octane "piss gas." Full disclosure, I have gotten a few fuel pump codes while using the off-the-shelf COBB maps (St2+ Aggressive and St2+ Sport), even though I never blended more than 3.2 gallons of E85 to a full tank. No issues while using E85 on St2+ Drive (yet). Take-away, I don't want to scare anyone as I'm just figuring out the right ratio to run for my car. I'm really pleased with the results so far and plan on continuing using E85 as the car's running better than when I was blending in race gas as an octane booster. Eventually, I'll get a Pro-Tune to use E40 or E50 and will probably end up doing some type of Low Pressure Fuel Pump (LPFP) upgrade. I'd rather not mess with the OEM LPFP, but don't know how to swing the additional LPFP used in series with the OEM pump without using the JB4 like some of the guys are using on the "other forum." Oh, and I store (qty 3) 5 gallon tanks of E85 in my garage to blend in with ACN 91 since the nearest E85 station is 20 minutes from my house. No issues with water absorption so far.

Came across this thread while researching e85 mixes. Curious, is it Ill advised to run the e85+91 mix without a tune? All we've got up in Iowa around me is 91 octane as the highest and everyplace has e85. Was considering meth injection, gna test this out as sort of a midpoint so I hear.

does e85 lose its ethanol content if it starts to absorb moisture? i have had some e85 sitting in a sealed gas can in the garage sinceoctober/ november and tested the ethanol content and it still shows as being e70. would i still be okay to use some to clean up some timing corrections?

I didnt test the ethanol content when i first got the fuel so im unsure if it started its life as straight e85 or if it was always e70
question is....is it still safe to use?

I've always had very consistent ethanol content, Propel Fuels at Shell Gas stations my pro tune was based from the same pumps. I just checked my logs at every fill up. once i was confident, i checked ever so often. Never used a tester, logs tell all.

i tried the 50/50 mix with out testing the e85 because im waiting for the tester in the mail, and i experienced what seems like fuel cut at high rpm in 4th and fifth,so i backed of but otherwise it was pulling real hard. maybe the fuel pump?i know it was replaced 2 years ago.guess ill go back to 91 till i get my tester

At this point without knowing what you're running, your mods, and seeing a log there is no way to tell what's really going on. Need more info
