although APR is ok and apparently the dealers are ok with APR tunes (warranty).

I will check out your g2g asap! thx!
I have a GTI and am thinking GIAC since the local dealer/distributor is awesome.
We do have a loval APR dealer in Dallas, however, I am not sure how good they are. When I had my BMW, I always dealt with the guys that install GIAC (Stage 1 is of interest to me)

APR is killing it, having tuned over half of the Golf R's in the USA. Their summer sale is coming up.

I have a friend at REVO.

I do like the local giac guys, awe.

But I hear good things about APtuning, also in PA. They have APR and UM. And they only charge $55 hr for labor, so I can get a ton of other stuff done, while I'm there. VWR springs, boost gauge vent, carbotech 1521s F AND R (brake dust is a bitch on this car), stage one flash, MOAR.

Loved my APR tune, my dealer even sold APR lol. My local shop says the R becomes a monster with a tune and bolt ons let alone stage 3.

Thx man, yes I made the mistake of driving my neighbors stage 1 golf r, when I was selling my jeep. That solidified my decision.

APR being available at dealers is huge. Apparently dealers are becoming ok with APR flashes and not crewing customers for having a tune. Also, you can turn off the tune with the cruise control stalk.

I have talked to people that had different tunes and for stage 1, they are all similar, and the price is close. Comes down to the local dealer preference. No Dallas VW Dealer offers APR.
APR goes with more boost than GIAC, so, their numbers may be a little bit bette...

True. I don't care about who has 3 more hp. I want the power to be linear. Local tuner, like you mentioned. And egts in control.

Nice R I want to go the opposite way my GTI was my daily and since I bought an other daily and wanted to replace the GTI by a 4 door Wrangler(mild lift+some goodies) but I got turned off by the rust(I live in Montreal, tons of salt in the winter) did you had any issues with your Jeep?

If you get. 2007+, skip the lift, just get a Sahara or rubicon. They come with 32"s and have a mild lift. Sahara will have fender flares that match the body color, which I prefer. Find one with factory 4:10 gearing, or it will be a dog. Tough to find, worth the hunt! test the ac out during test drives.

I've been driving the 335D exclusively lately.

The veedub has been neglected. Today was a beautifully sunny day in the Philly burbs, with amazing skies! So I went out for a spirited cruise. I had the car running for 2 hours straight, including two moments when I jumped out to snap a few pictures. I was testing the APR IC.

On the way out, I used mostly fun back roads. I ended up in Valley Forge Park. Before I turned back for home I made a point to find a clear on-ramp to the main highway. I got on the car hard. It felt great. Granted it wasn't 100 degrees today, but I could tell the IC was an upgrade for sure. I really noticed the improved mid-range from the HPFP upgrade as well. It's quite a push back into the seat now. The car sounds OEM and clean, but after the carbonio intake upgrade, I feel that it has a little more of an attitude, like a resonated milltek exh with cat. Nothing crazy, but it sounds better.

I was very happy with the way the tires, h+r rsb, and haldex controller have all come together to make the car turn & stick the way I want it to. I'm in love with this car.

That's a lot of money for wheels to not have lock nuts!

Car looks awesome!

I am looking for my next DD and am thinking either a Golf R or a JKU Rubicon X (called the "Hard Rock" for 2015). I know they are opposite ends of the spectrum but I've always wanted both. My 2008.5 GTI was probably the best all around car I've ever had and the R will improve the parts I felt were lacking (FWD, slow). The Rubi would be fun as hell to mod and I've always wanted a zombie apocalypse vehicle. I'm torn, man! Any insight?

King, I'm currently considering both too. I have an R on order, but was really hoping the US Mk7 would have had MPI dual injection, which it looks like we won't be getting.

VW is so far behind in updating the website. They haven't even launched the configurator, meanwhile the cars are showing up on dealer lots. I haven't seen jack squat about the next R. With a 1yo daughter, small cars just arent working for us anymore. Even my S4 is too cramped with the rear facing seat in the back, which is why I am leaning 4dr Rubi X (I also get crazy good pricing through work).

Funny, we're expecting and I'm now eying a Mini F55 instead of the R. I know kid seats will be tight, but I just don't like large cars.
