Dads and Cars E63 S Amg Wagon

I am sure that many of you got into cars because your father's also where car guys. I met my dad for breakfast this morning and to my surprise he had a brand new e63 S AMG wagon that he had ordered 6 months ago!! The said he had to have this one so the dogs would be comfortable in back. He has had over 300 cars in his lifetime and is where I can trace my passion for cars also. I am not sure if any one you have run into this but he always says. THIS IS GOING TO BE THE CAR THAT I AM GOING TO KEEP FOREVER. This never happens!

I am much like him but have a couple that I am truly never selling. These include
1. 1988 e30
2. 1953 CJ3b jeep.
3. 1995 Avus blue e36
4. Soon to be bought 2012 e92.

I feel these are keepers and I am a bit of a pack rat.

I wanted to share my dad story and hear any others. I just had a son and plan on turning him to the dark side of being a car guy. Sometimes my check book wishes I was not a car guy but what is life without a PASSION !!!

I've always been into cars since I was a kid (well, first it was trucks ) but my dad's always had a passion for them since he was young and I think it certainly influenced how I turned out. He currently has a mildly modified 993 C4S and a Challenge Stradale, but he's the kind of guy that holds on to cars because he falls in love with them. Definitely a great way to share time together.

My dad got me into cars while drifting through canyons and throwing me magazines and letting me steer on his lap when i was 6 yrs old. Even my cousin who instructs on track days got into this because my dad introduced him to his first ever burnout. He is currently telling me to research some coilovers (at least kw or ohlins) with camber plates for his car. I've not told him about my car and after he drove it he asked what coilovers are these?

Cool car, and not to be a wet blanket, but 400 cars in his lifetime? Is that a typo? That's like a different car every month or two for a middle aged person. Unless of course your dad is Jay Leno.

That wagon should have a custom plate that reads "HURST", a lot of cars will be dead once that thing is tuned haha

I drove it this am. Exhaust sound is really nice. From what I could tell they they did a great job with the transmission. It only has 15 miles so could not really get on it until after break in but the torque felt massive. The car has 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Its truly a special machine Will post more after a week of driving.

As for the 400 cars. He is 77 and had on average about 3-4 new or used cars a year since he was 16. He gets sick of them quick. 400 was an estimate probably more along the lines of 300.

I really is great to share a passion with a family member.

My Dad just flew everywhere in his corporate jets. Cars are beneath him. He used Challenge Stradales as snot-rags.

I did not check that out but it would be cool if it did . He will be back this weekend and I will look.

0-60 in 3.5 in rear seat facing backward would be interesting !

The new E63 AMG S wagon is sick. Saw one this morning on my way to work and had to do a double take and then flip a thumbs up at the driver. Exactly like your dads except with tintz

Grats to your dad on a great car...the dogs will have lots of space and he'll be able to embarrass a few sports cars in between stop lights

I am 99% sure that that the E63 wagon can not be optioned with the third row of seats.

My wife and I came very, very close to ordering an E63 wagon in 2012. We didn't because the grapevine said that AMG would be offering the then optional power pack as standard in the future and providing AWD. Both rumours have since come to fruition.

We need the space behind the rear seats for our dog, need a large back seat for our son and his enormous car seat and have absolutely no intention of driving an SUV. We're not sold on the exterior redesign but the rumor now is that MB won't be offering an AMG wagon in the US when the E class is redesigned. This might be the last chance to get one of these.

BTW - our dealer has told me that these are even more rare than an SLS roadster.

I was going to test drive the same car, but the sedan, however it had just gotten sold. Isn't the 0-60 something like 3.2 sec on it? Nuts
