Because Honda. I just bought a 15 year old Acura with 100k miles. I wouldn't touch a 15 year old Audi with 100k miles if I got it for half the price of the acura.

Acura attracts a larger pool of buyers. Those who want a nice car but not be overwhelmed by gadgets and/or a robust options sheet, plus they're fairly affordable and carry the reputation of reliability. Acuras basically have very little in the way of option packages as they come with many features standard. Plus they have good resale value.
The gadgets and features in Acuras are simple to use, mainly because they haven't changed since about 2002. I'm pretty sure the navi interface runs off DOS or something. To use the MMI in Audi isn't complicated, it just takes a little bit of a learning curve same as iDrive, but I could see people being a bit overwhelmed by the amount of buttons, menus, and knobs. That said, their sales numbers year over year, quarter over quarter are declining. |
