Type "enzo ferarri jeep american sports car" into google and you'll find what you're looking for. It honestly doesn't apply to the newer ones, but old Jeeps do adhere to the sports car formula. The terms lightweight, purpose built, and uncompromising would all apply to older sports cars and Jeeps IMO, and Jeeps are some of the best at what they do.

At least go for a jeep sahara.
I wouldn't trade in my bmw for that though.

I've owned a Jeep TJ that I took on the Rubicon Trail and a FJ Cruiser which I took on a 700 mile off-road tour of Death Valley. Both were awesome vehicles for the types of off-road adventures that they were designed for.

On the other hand, the BMW 335i is a high performance vehicle that offers the type of paved road performance that neither the Jeep nor FJ could ever match, but there's no way that the BMW would go anywhere "off-road" that either my Jeep or FJ could travel.

So, deciding between a Jeep and a BMW is really a matter of choosing between apples and oranges.

My driving taste and needs change from day to day and season to season. That's why I currently have 2 cars, a truck and a motorcycle in my garage. In fact, I'm currently thinking about buying another FJ to add to my stable because I'm getting the "off-road" itch again.

So, if you can't afford to own/lease BOTH a Jeep and a BMW, just pick the type of car that you'd enjoy driving most NOW and, when your needs/tastes change, acquire the vehicle that then best suits you.

I had a Jeep Wrangler before I came back to BMW. They are super fun but not like BMW fun. They are not a drivers car obviously. I was looking at both a BMW or a Wrangler. But opted for the BMW driving pleasure over the Jeep go-anywhere-take-the-roof-and-doors-off capability and 4x4 fun of the Jeep.

Good post. I'm thinking of getting a Jeep Wrangler Sport for next winter. Best of both worlds in the garage!

I guess the hate train will be on me now, but....

I just did, and so should you OP!

Sold my 09' E90 and replaced it with a 13' Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited one month ago! I've modded it with 33" tires, lift, LED bars etc.

It's not a great drive and if you're looking for BMW handling/fast overtakes/fun in corners you shouldnt go for it. My father have always had Jeeps since I was born (he currently owns 5) so I guess the influence was present from day one and I've always wanted one. I bought it for it for it's classic Jeep appearance, offroad capability and towing capacity. It's also a really fun vehicle that brings a lot of looks and stands out from the other cars around.

In Norway we have strict speed limits and bad roads and the Wrangler fits those conditions great! I can't go fast as I'm dependent on the license to get to work so then I don't need a car that's handling great above 60mph

I couldn't be happier myself!

Great trade. Do it.
The Jeep is a better car imo than the BMW 328I. It oozes coolness and looks better overall. Also everyone know the BMW 3 Series is just 'wannabe' bmw.

You wanna be a wannabe? Or the real thing?

Great trade. The 3 Series is honestly played out. The design is so out dated. I'm glad I never got a 3 Series. The last good BMW was the 2010 335I.

Back in 2010 I bought a little ford ranger with the FX4 package because all my friends and co workers had trucks. Within less than three months I didn't want anything more than to drive it in the river and go back to something more sporty.

I really hated the lack of brakes and wobbly handling of the truck. The roll over and TC nannies were so annoying that I could barely get the truck down my street in 4wd if there were ruts more than 2 inches deep.

Take one for a spin. Honestly ask yourself if you can live with it everyday.

Bought a "new" 2007 FJ Cruiser

FYI, I just bought a "new" to me 2007 FJ Cruiser.

Owned one before and got the itch to go off-road again. Found one at a local dealer w/"only" 74k miles on it and bought it for $20k "out the door" for a base price of $18.2k, which is a good price for the car.

Not going to mod the sh*t out of it like I did the last one. There are a few extras that I "have" to buy, but all the work that I did on the 335i has tapped me out. So, I'm going to keep the mods on the FJ to a min.

Neglected to take pics of it when I was at the dealership and it's still there getting a CV joint replaced as part of the deal, but here's a stock photo of what I bought looks like:
