The Tourneau you were referring to in the OP is an AD AFAICT, assuming this is the correct Toureau.

Tourneau is crap, they offered to give me 5% off my watch, i laughed at them.

Check out this website http://forums.watchuseek.com/index.php
Join and ask for a AD(authorized dealer) that is willing to negotiate a price that is in the 20%+ off range. Never pay retail on watches.

Oh for sure. I know there are other watches that are much more expensive. It's just that I can't even begin to comprehend the idea. It's just so ridiculously expensive!

I know people that got good deals at the Tourneau near me, then again I'm in a different state. Maybe it's hit or miss. Additionally, the discount you get on a watch will vary by brand as well. Rolex is a good example. They don't allow ADs to heavily discount their watches.

Yeah I was going to do that but didn't wanna call around or actually go to those stores and ask them. I figured I should post and ask to see if anyone knows a local AD that can beat the 30%.

Nice, congrats!

Tourneau is pretty expensive. My co-worker knows someone that works there but it's taking forever to get a reply from her so I'm looking at alternatives. I can get a 30% off now but it's out of state so if I need something small it'd be a hassle.

I've already joined a forum so I'm sure the favorite AD there is the same AD that they give me the info to. I'll check it out though. Thank you!

As a general rule of thumb ADs will not discount more than 25%. If you can do better than that, consider yourself fortunate. I'd jump on 30% for a manufacturer warrantied purchase. You're just not going to do much better. You're verging on grey market pricing.

I'm not sure if it's the same on Omega's but for Movado watches, dealers are not allowed to go over 30% (IIRC). Who knows though. I mean if I could find a local AD that offers 35% off I would come out about the same (actually a bit cheaper even with tax) compared to the 30% off with the out of state AD. It would also give me the convenience of going there for small things like resizing.

In some cases it will vary by brand. Trying to find a greater than 30% on a manufacturer warrantied SMP from an AD is probably a waste of time. 30% of is a really good deal on that watch.

Read this:

http://www.chronocentric.com/watches/g*****rket.shtml

Like I said, 30% is verging on gray market pricing. It's a great deal.

Almost any jeweler will do the resizing for you for a small fee. You could buy the tools to do it yourself online as well.

Thanks Radix! I know 30% off is pretty good but it doesn't hurt to try. Besides, I'm not gonna go out and buy the watch right away so I have some time to look around. I'll keep you guys posted.

I believe that someone said the ADs charge a 43% markup on the watches, so at 30 off you are really paying for the extra 13...im sure if you do and bring enough buisness to a AD they can hop you up to 35+.
