for ps3 some games require installation before you can play like devil may cry 4 and my latest game ninja gaiden sigma.

for ninja gaiden sigma, on the main menu of the game there was an option to install. now i thought it would install on the harddrive and you can play without cd which i could.

when i turned off the ps3 and went back the next day to start ninja, how do i start the game? i found the file name and my game saved file but how do i boot it?

i believe you still need to have the cd in the drive. when you install, it only puts some files on the hard drive, not all and will not enable you to play without the disc in the drive.

that is uber gay. so what the hell is the point of installing the files and having the install as an option on the menu?

Happens on the 360 too, and the Wii, although it doesn't say "Install," it just says that the device needs to be updated and you just hit okay so you can play the game.

it's an update, not like install install

it install some files so that you have less loading times.
