Lightbulb Neue Klasse iX3 production starts July 2025 + info on new i3, iX5, G90 M5

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Added model lineups for several future BEV models, including first details about iX3 (NA5) in the Future BMW Models Thread:
  • End of production changes for US X6: from 03/28 to 12/27
  • A small adjustment to G70 LCI: 07/26, not 03/26
  • G90 M5 will be in production until 02/31; not clear if that also means a longer production period for all G60s.
  • G73 i7 xDrive60 Protection will be available from 07/25. I can't wait to learn its curb weight.
  • Planned NA0 (i3) model lineup: 40, 40 xDrive, 50, 50 xDrive, M60 xDrive
  • Planned NA5 (iX3) model lineup: 40, 40 xDrive, 50 xDrive, M60 xDrive
  • Planned NA7 (iX4) model lineup: 40 xDrive, 50 xDrive, M60 xDrive
  • Planned G65 BEV (iX5) model lineup: 50 xDrive, M70 xDrive
  • NA5 production is confirmed for 07/25-10/33, with introduction to non-European markets delayed to Spring 2026. It will be the first model to use several new features. The most interesting ones are the Panoramic Stage interface recently previewed in the NK concept (it will be standard) and the Augmented Reality glasses BMW plans to bring to market in 2027. The options we're already familiar with will include Iconic Glow exterior, the first use of multifunction seats with massage function on a 3-series level model, and various M features (M packages, M trims, M seats, M steering wheel). At least at this time, there is no autonomous driving beyond Level 2.

The iX3 is getting massaging seats and this is still not a feature on the i5?

So no manuals coming and no grill reductions.

C'est la vie.

At this point it doesn't make sense to buy anything that isn't Neue Klasse. Everything else will be super dated when that comes out.

Yeah, but I will be 69 and retiring in 2025, so getting an i5 now. Otherwise, I would wait.

It won’t come until late 26, so you will drive a very nice car until that time arrives.

Having moved from the G05 to the iX3, I’m finding the iX3 very low-rent in comparison, with build quality nowhere near as good.

Having had two F30s before the G05, I figured the drop wouldn’t be as bad, but unfortunately not.

Any chance the NA5 will be more luxurious (nicer leather/seat quality better fit and finish interior etc).

If not, I’ll wait for the BEV iX5 (CLAR) or just get the Macan EV.

There will be more competition next year as Maserati Grecale Folgore EV arrives.

More competition is welcome.

So the performance variant of the iX5 will be iX5 M70.
Does that mean there would be an i5 M70?

I think BMW had to cheap out on the current EV versions because the expenses in battery and conversions to the platform. Those financial limitations should be lessened with a platform built from the ground up with EVs in mind. Also, the EV market will be more mature with all of the major traditional players having true second generation EVs.

and even then, you're likely talking about paying MSRP for the car... I'd wait until the summer of 27 or so and see how things shake out, will probably go through another 2+ cars by then anyway.

That may be the case today, but don’t think that BMW will “improve” the materials quality just because their platform costs lessen over time. As long as their sales keep going up, they won’t change anything, they will just keep the extra profit. Only losing sales or the increased competition (which you mentioned) will cause them to spend more money.

Think of all the complaints on the ugly noses/grilles many of us (and the media) have been complaining about for years. Notice BMW hasn’t really changed direction on that. The reason: their sales keep rising every year so they must be doing something right. If we all put our money where our mouths are and actually stopped buying these ugly-nosed cars (causing a sales drop), BMW would change their designs within a year or so. Though it would take more than just the Bimmerpost enthusiasts to make a significant dent in sales.

They have zero history in EV’s

Weren't the F10 and F30 super successful for BMW? The G30 and G20 were still a huge step up in interior quality from them.

Competition combined with jubilance is welcome even more so.

Electric cars aren't manufactured to be unique. Like most modern cars, they are built on a specific platform, just like BMW's Neue Klass.

Stellantis is no exception since it's the parent company of Maserati.

STLA Medium platform will be used in Grecale Folgore.

https://www.stellantis.com/en/news/p...er-innovations

Grecale Folgore initial specifications:

550hp and 850Nm of torque
0-60mph in 4.1 seconds
Up to 310 miles of range
"Owners will be able to take their battery from 20% to 80% charge in 27 minutes, a rate of 2.4 kWh per minute." - from STLA Medium announcement.

As a side note, I drove Gracale Trofeo with 523 HP as soon as SoCal dealer in my area had one to test drive. If the lease terms were attractive, I would lease one to enjoy the ICE drivetrain before we all have to drive EVs.
