I mentioned a few weeks ago I was looking for PM's to flush. Well it's happening and I'm looking for another 20% worth of downside before the sell-climax peaks. Then I'll be going long like King Kong.

Is anyone still in GPRO with me? I'm trying to decide what to do especially with the HERO 4 launching in a few weeks.

Iphone 6 and BABA IPO was perfect setting for a top...didnt say "the" top, but just a top.

Yeah this week is looking like a good blow off, already each day making lower lows and the ISIS strikes are helping the selling. Waiting to see a close below 1978 on the S&P so I can short the S&P the rest of the week.

Sold Sprint after holding it for a month. Only 20% gain, without any CALL (just shares).

BABA- we all knew that was coming. Same txt book as FB ?
RAD- waiting till low low low 5s, or high 4s.
AMD- -3% still will hold till oct. Shopping for OCT CALLs
S- Out today (as i mentioned on top)
P- interested if under 24.50ish

Wow 20% in a month is amazing.

I did 1.72% for my first month in the market (Aug 20 to September 20). Net gain of around a thousand bucks.

Still just dipping my toes in. I just feel that I started at the tail end of the bull market and the ride is almost over.

Sadly, 20% gain in Sprint in 1mo is only on Sprint, not entire portfolio. If it was 20% in 1mo on entire portfolio, it would be amazing.

If you think the bull market is over, you should be googling what a "PUT" is instead.

did I not say a "top" few weeks ago????........Iphone 6 and BABA a dead giveaway....it was time, complacency was getting out of control.

Sand plays selling off and loom broken now...the dollar taking off is the reason...hmm...interesting.

I will give you the credit, but even avg joe who are NOT in the finance sector knew.

few already "verted" to VIX on here about mo ago.
A guy who has no idea of even basic "past tense" technical went defensive.

I sold all my position, except AMD.

Well I asked questions both on this forum (e90post) and on 6speed.

The 6speed fellas were much more helpful. If anyone else is new to the market take a look here. There may be some information to help you.

Jasonn -

A couple of years ago you made a topic asking for advice on what's reasonable to spend (in gifts) on a significant other. You said that you made $60,000/year and that you spent upwards of $1000/month on gifts in addition to dropping $25,000 on an engagement ring. Even at that time you said you were leasing two X1s. Why does it feel like something doesn't add up with your story?

I truly respect the fact that you weren't handed anything on a silver platter but for your sake please tell me you either downplayed your salary (by a factor of 10) or you made millions in a very short period of time.

Had a feeling this downtrend would occur. I'm down about 9% of my overall portfolio valuation...in the span of a week. I got hit hard.

The Canadian market is pretty shit in terms of diversity in industries and sectors. My portfolio primarily consists of basic materials like gold/silver and REIT's, with some oil sand stock thrown in.

No point in me selling off at this low so I will hold and ride it out. No choice. I don't need to pull out at a sub 10% loss. Hell no.

The issue therein lied what was "reasonable". I wanted to know what was a "reasonable" expenditure for the base salary that my GF knew about at the time.

My family as I stated before was middle/upper middle class. My mother was very, very cheap and frugal. So in contrast to my mother I felt I was spending a ton on my GF at the time. My GF grew up with drastically different standards. Since we could never come to terms, I just really wanted to know what the "reasonableness" standards was for others.
Ok that's fair but I mean if you were asking for advice back then shouldn't you have mentioned that?

It was deceptive to just list wage income in that topic when in reality you had other significant sources of income (both active and passive).

I agree I thought your GF was expecting way too much of you back then. It was killing me inside to read that, but for what it's worth I'm glad you (presumably) worked things out with her.

Thanks a lot Benedict. Those were tough times indeed. For the record, I did end up marrying my then GF. I sold the X1, got her the 981 to enjoy before she became pregnant. Then unexpectedly she got pregnant so I sold the 981 and got her an X5.

I apologize if I was deceptive. I only ever spend what I actively earn. The rest is infused into new projects.

Anything I don't spend from my active income now becomes Designated Risk Capital for the market. Which is why I can be cavalier with my choices if not merely for a learning experience.

Jasonn, Talking to Financial advisor or CFP is just one of the objective investment.
I know you are smart guy. I would use every single education you had since K-12 to graduate school to apply ALL the knowledge + tool you can on the market.

I liquidated everything 2days ago, except AMD. (if you recall AMD for AMG) LOL. Glad that I saw this coming, but I still have SOME faith in AMD.

I am down -4% on AMD, and I am starting to see further downward trend.
Tomorrow will be the key day for me. Either I buy PUT to cover, or CALL for mid OCT AMD POP prior to earnings. Or I can straddle, and get rid of one each at near relative max/min point.

(my orig plan was to buy call)

I initially thought this is just the left shoulder. After looking at volume and running some crap again, it "MIGHT" be the head with short neckline.
WHO KNOWS....
