I'm with you. He should have stayed retired, when he got out on top. I think he's done. There're several drivers better than him (even in his best days IMO), including his young teammate (ouch!). But most importantly, his car is not dominating anymore, so that huge advantage he had for 7 seasons is gone now.

He does seem a bit light in the loafers and it takes a certain type of man to date that complete airhead.

The guy ran a great race and I'm not denying that and I don't think anyone is attacking him. It was simply an observation. Are you his brother or something!?

Cheeky move by McLaren by running Lewis car down to dead empty fuel....but well paid off....good "investment" to McLaren....
Paid 10K Euro fine to get on pole and a race 1-2.....money well spent!

Montreal just proved Bahrain GP is shit and needs to be removed from calender....
and 2010 doesn't need Safety Car or Rain to have an awesome race....we just need the event to be held in a proper track like Montreal.....

I've been scouring bloomberg and the F1 website and have seen nothing on it. Do you have a link?

Hamiton reprimanded and fined

here

Quote:
Lewis Hamilton have been fined $10,000 and given a reprimand after he stopped on the track after securing pole position for the Canadian GP.

The Englishman's car was so short of fuel after his pole position lap that his McLaren team ordered him to stop on the circuit.

Team principle Martin Whitmarsh was concerned there would not be enough petrol left in the tank to provide a sample, as required by the International Automobile Federation.

In a bizarre finale to the qualifying session, Hamilton switched off the engine but continued to coast around the track, seated on top of his car before finally climbing out of the cockpit and pushing his car before hitching a lift with the safety car.

The celebrations, though, ended with a fine after the stewards deemed Hamilton had exceeded the maximum time set to return to the pits after the end of qualifying. He was fined USD10,000 and given a reprimand.

"We've accepted it, we'll pay it, and we'll move on," Whitmarsh said. "We have complied with the regulations, we didn't set out to do this.

"It wasn't Lewis's fault. We had a choice, we could have come back to the garage but having done so we would have been short of fuel on our sample so we chose the decision that the regulation requires us.

"We thought that was the dominant requirement rather than an FIA memo."

Based on what I've heard from BBC (David Couthard and Eddie Jordan). There's only an memo from Charlie Whiting from the FIA stating the cars MUST return to parc-ferme under their own power. However this never went into the FIA's sporting regulation.

However, providing fuel sample was clearly written in the regulation. So McLaren went for the loop-hole and ordered Hamilton to stop the car, just to provide enough fuel sample to clear parc-ferme. Written regulation > issued memo.

Here comes all the excuses....
Let me tell you this Mclaren will not be first and the last team to bend the rules where ever they can.
End of the day LH drove an excellent race and he won fair and square.

"excuses"? those are plain facts...i'd say even with a bit more enough fuel in the tank...hamilton will still be on the pole...just 1/10 sec faster instead of 2/10 now....

they timed that lewis will be the last one doing hot lap...and well calculated fuel amount to dead minimum....

these are all well calculated risk...10000 euro fine vs P2 on the grid.....
i don't see anything wrong....FIA didn't make the rules clear....team took the advantage (like DDD, F-duct...etc)....

i never said Hamilton "cheated" or watever.....
Hamilton and McLaren did a well executed race, starting from qualifying, to tire strategy (even the SC they hoped never happen...they adjusted accordingly)....every thing works like clockwork....

its a well deserved win by McLaren....

Now the teams would've bang their head saying....why didn't I think of that....

and none of the teams are able to pull the same trick again....i'm not sure but i believe FIA will penalize who's doing again with grid penalty next time.....

Hamilton fans need to calm down....I was just relaying news and what happened on the track....what was the potential reason behind it (as I heard from BBC)....not denying his great race....just saying how Formula 1 is all about weight and calculated to the last drop of fuel...nothing is wasted....
