Dont go and buy a used one. had a gallardo and its not that great. You cannot have it as a DD

my advice, go buy a new E92 M3 and ESS SC it. This was my best car by far and Ive had every Porsche Gt2/3/RS/Turbo and a Ferrari 360 CS

Don't wast your money on flashy crap

You obviously want it. You obviously can afford it. Why WOULDNT you get it? I dont think one buys a G for it's performance as much as its fun factor and/or the attention it brings. My opinion on the car itself and anyone elses opinion here doesnt really matter now does it? Buy it, drive it, get it out of your system and enjoy it. I'll bet you sell it within 18 months though.

All the best

It sounds so dumb when people call a Lamborghini a "Lambo".

That's all I got to say about that.

I have a hard time finding DIY stuff for ferrari.. idk why.
WTF? Who DIYs on exotics? This is what happens when the financial markets crash, leaving the nouveau riche having to flood supply of entry level exotics. Prices depress to the point where you could toss a few bones at someone and get yourself into a bright orange car you can't actually properly maintain by paying professionals.

The amount of fail in this thread is starting to reach critical mass. We need to spin off the toxic waste into a "bad thread" and see if this one can't be salvaged.

Again. DO IT YOURSELF MAINTENANCE ON A LAMBORGHINI AND/OR FERRARI?! LOL
yea, maybe wiper blades...

some people like to DIY, who cares if it's an exotic?

Just because it's an exotic, doesn't make it impossible to work on. I'm confused. I'd take pride changing pads, rotors, etc on my car..

One could say the m3 is a status car...

We all know it. We could've gotten a 335 and chipped it, and squashed any m3.

But we didn't buy one did we?

Why cant diy on exotic? Just like some corolla owners may say why you m3 owners diy on your cars, same way.

Handling 335i cant even beat m3. NA>FI. I never get m3 for status because its nothing exotic.

Two very different scenarios. Here they are:

1. DIY brake job and oil change etc on a 200k car because you are a true car enthusiast and you get a boner from hearing screwdrivers ratchet and getting grease on your hands.

2. DIY brake job and oil change on that same car because you BLEW your money on a used ass Gallardo (pre-abused by ex banker/mortgage broker) and actually cannot afford proper maintenance.

I'm laughing at number 2 here. More power to you if you like to and can do that kind of stuff. But being prepared to eat the cost of maintaining any car, new or old, expensive or cheap is as much a factor of owning that car, as is getting money together to buy said car.

I'd take option 1, i have every tool i would need, lift, and a Lambo technician nearby. So i wouldn't hesitate.

Option 2 would apply to some owners, you're right. But not me.

Bob has spoken... best comment so far.
But I already have an e92 M3 that when the warranty runs out is getting supercharged?!? No point of getting another one!

I think it's a great idea. I'm a big believer in living life as opposed to simply dreaming about it.

That being said, factor in all the costs and make sure it's an affordable decision. If money is no object, then buy as new a MY as you can comfortably afford, and have at it!

And I don't understand why people are claiming it's a 'status' vehicle. Have any of you actually heard that noise that V10 makes? Or sat in a Gallardo before? I couldn't care less if the body shell was a pink beetle, all of my experiences indicate that it would be HOOT to own. Given that the OP appears to be a car enthusiast, I imagine his motivations are less towards status and more towards the ownership experience of a wild animal of a vehicle.

You might say this for next gen M3, since both 335 and the M3 will have turbos. And only real difference will be handling. But the current M3 has an engine only next to a Ferrari V8, and 335 has an engine that has lag, HPFP issues... Doesn't really compare.
