Ok. What can you tell me about Landau Kleffner Syndrome, Wilson’s disease, tyrosinemia, Canavan disease, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease?

Landau Kleffner Syndrome - Syndrome is a form of childhood epilepsy which results in a severe language disorder.

Wilson's Disease is a genetic disorder that is fatal unless detected and treated before serious illness from copper poisoning develops. Wilson's Disease affects approximately one in 30,000 people worldwide. The genetic defect causes excessive copper accumulation in the liver or brain.

Tyrosinemia (or "Tyrosinaemia") is an error of metabolism, usually inborn, in which the body can not effectively break down the amino acid tyrosine, found in most animal and plant proteins. Tyrosinemia is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern. There are three types of tyrosinemia, each with distinctive symptoms and caused by the deficiency of a different enzyme.

Canavan disease is an inherited disorder that causes progressive damage to nerve cells in the brain. This disease is one of a group of genetic disorders called leukodystrophies. Leukodystrophies are characterized by degeneration of myelin, which is the fatty covering that insulates nerve fibers.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) is a very rare and incurable brain disease that is ultimately fatal. It is the most common of the transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs). It is a progressive neurological disorder which belongs to a group of degenerative neurologic diseases known as subacute spongiform encephalopathies.

Six minutes, not bad, even for a cut/paste job. I asked because Congress recently passed a bill providing funding for research into certain "obscure diseases" and these diseases were several of the ones listed. Now I know what they are.

Here is another topic for you to research. My sister is in school to be a nurse, and she graduates in a couple months. She has been doing a lot of what they call "clinicals" which basically means they do the job of a nurse at a local hospital for no pay.

Anyway, the other day she came across a patient with the following problem: The internal workings of his large intestine fell out of his anus. They literally came out and were hanging from his anus inside out and had to be shoved back in. The guy had really, really bad hemorrhoids also and at first they thought it was just a really big one until they called in a doctor who freaked out when he saw it. Apparently there is some disease that allows this kind of thing to happen. What is the name of the disease?

med question.

The physical finding sounds like "rectal prolapse". Diseases (and activities) which cause one to chronically lose lower bowel tone and innervation would predispose one to this. This would be a situation where I would consult a surgeon, so can't tell you much more.

Alcohol flush reaction, the technical term for such occurence, happens when the body is unable to break down the alcohol completely. The body is supposed to use aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2), an enzyme which is normally responsible for breaking down acetaldehyde, a byproduct of the metabolism of alcohol. So, when you body has an inactive ALDH2 enzyme, it can't break down acetaldehyde, which is toxin, and thus caused flushing when acetaldehyde accumulates.

And therefore, when your body accumulates more acetaldehyde, means more toxin is collected in your body, and thus cancerous cells began to grow. Study also shows that the inactive ALDH2 enzyme is genetic, means there isn't anything you can do to stop the flushing. So if you flushes easily, expert suggest that you should avoid alcoholic drinks.

I wasn't sure what was going on. I mean, I've seen Shimshimhada, Shimshimnada, and Shimshimhadababy. David's a bit different. I just assumed that he accumulated a few aliases.

No offense, but it's not like you just stole the identity of Donald Trump or something.

It reminds me of this scene from the Untouchables:
Ness (Kevin Costner): How come you believed me when I said I was a treasury agent?
Malone(Sean Connery): Now whooo would shay he wash that if he washant?

The Avian Influenza is a hoax, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. AIDS is also fictional, it was made up by Tony Kushner.
