What's in a name?

Plus UCI has a repuation for cheaters (too bad because it is a decent school as you said).

You're right about it being the trendy school to apply to, though. In recent years it has become harder to get into UCLA than Berkley. I can see why, though: great weather, great location, big city with lots to do and good internship opportunities, and a good school. Arguably the best all-around package. Of course, if you get into Harvard it would certainly be worth it to go there and freeze your butt off.
USC - University of Spoiled Children
UCLA - University of Californians Living among Asians
MIT - Made in Taiwan
If you say "Haverford" really fast, it sounds like "Harvard".

The name of the school is not too vital in terms of career success. A buddy of mines, a graduate of Stanford, isn't doing so well post-grad. Then I know people who become successful as dropouts in college and/or just plain highschool graduates. There are lots of places who place an emphasis on where you came from but it's really not that big. If you have the experience, that's all that's need to take you to places.

i had a friend who went to SCU and it seems nice. the area around SCU wasnt all that great but the people seemed friendly enough. the classes there were all small so if you want personal attention you cant beat private schools. but i saw her bill for the year and it was something like 28 G's!!! no wonder why my dad was all smiles when it came to write a check for my education at SDSU...all of 600 bucks a smester! but then again you get what you paid for

USD is a beautiful campus. and a pretty good school from what i hear.

one thing i have to say is: STAY IN SCHOOL AS LONG AS YOU CAN!!!
youll know why when you get out...trust me.

congrats! UCI is a nice place to be. beautiful campus and great surrounding area. EXCEPT one lil flaw: too many damn asians. we call it the University of Chinese Immigrants. not that thats a bad thing if thats what you want. oh yeah BTW im asian. i got accepted here as well but choose SDSU instead. i needed more variety. but on the plus side its a good school in a nice city. and newport beach is only 10 mins away.

yeah...dont get me wrong though...it is a damn fine school. irvine/newport is one of those places id like to settle down in. awesome socal lifestyle. but if you do get accepted then id say go UCSD. its the best of both worlds. AWESOME location and great school. (except for that sinking library, or the giraffe catchers, and that singing tree...) not much party life there but that what TJ/SDSU is for. then once you hit the big 21 then SOOO many places to go.

My personal statement was also not the most organized thing you've ever read. haha. It was out of chronological order and had to be revised about 192038103 times before I submitted it. But it was all worth it.

I got into Santa Clara University, University of San Diego, University of San Francisco, University of the Pacific and Saint Mary's College!

I'm just waiting on my UCs and I'm good to go! AHH FUN! I can't wait to graduate and go off to college. It's so close. So exciting

HOLLA!
Congrats! Yea i took my SAT's on a bad day and didnt do to good.. but getting into college wasn't to hard.. they make SAT's seem worth more than a lot of colleges even refer to them!

I think I got an 11 something, but I dont remember. Those scores are usless anyways unless you're trying to get into a real good school, but then you have to pay a lot. And it doesn't matter what school you go to as long as you do well there and you aren't planning on being like a lawyer or ceo or something.
