I just got LASIK done on my eyes

I got it a year ago. I have 20/15 vision, can see the bottom line of the chart without even straining my eyes.

However, a year later and I do still get halo vision at night time around soft lights. It sucks, but having 20/15 is worth it.

Congrats!

I plan on having lasik done in a couple years. I've only worn contacts for about 3.5 years and it's still annoying to a degree. But it could be worse. My allergies are the only thing that make contacts such a burden for me.

yeah, thats one of the side effects. i get that too though its gotten better over the years.

Have almost done this but never pulled the trigger. I'd really like to get rid of my glases. My mother did it about 5-6 years ago and has seen great since. Maybe I'll do this for a 25th Bday present to myself.

Congrats on the improved vision. I've been considering lasik for a while now. One of my friends says that she can't open her eyes under water after the surgery. Eyes too sensitive or something. I also hear it's better to do lasik after you're 30 or so since your vision is more stable then.

I'll probably still do it in the future. My opthamologist recommended waiting until there's more studies on the long term effects of lasik since the procedure is still relatively new. At some point, it will be interesting to see how the folks that had this done 20 years ago are doing now.

My uncle got it done by a reputable doctor. He lost his night vision and can no longer drive or see things very well in dark. Essentially, his eyes lost the ability to adjust. Not worth the risk for me. I am interested to see where it is in 30 years though considering with such a new surgery it is nearly impossible to project the long term issues that may come up.

technology has changed since then and it continues to change. someone who had the procedure done 20 yrs ago prob didn't have the same procedure done as they do now days. you would prob have to keep waiting another 20 yrs to see if the people now have any side effects as they get older.

from personal experience though, i haven't had to wear contacts or glasses for the last 10 yrs after my surgery...and i was almost blind before that.

To those that see halos at night.. what kind of halos are they and is it annoying? I sometimes see halos when my contacts dry out. Is it that kind?

halos are bad at first, some may say annoying, but i don't really have a problem with them anymore.

like blake said, they are noticable at first but as your eyes heal it gets better. now its not that noticable but it is still kinda there.

Instead of the normal lasik, I went for the iLasik 6 months ago and costed alot more. Now

I have perfect vision or even better since I wore glasses/contacts.

Yeah, and it seriously hurts like shit!!! I think mine took 25 minutes for each eye =.=

I too have been thinking of Lasik but the side effects worry me. I regularly work on TV/Movie sets in low light and the Halo thing concerns me. I have Tiger Woods Lasik doctor programmed into my phone, yet I still cant bring myself to call even that Doc.

Maybe if I can insure my vision for a few mil first, then I could work the courage for a consult. My vision is not that bad now, but it would be nice to go glasses-less.
