what is your gas mileage for 335I auto ?

My auto 335I gas mileage is really bad, 12mpg in local streets on DS mode, mostly with traffics.

I tried to drive highway and local on the weekends, get around 16 MPG with D mode and shift.

D mode get better mileages but slower, shift gear is good but lots of traffic most of the time. I love DS mode ( lazy and fun for normal day driving ) but it 's sucking the oil like crazy and I push the gas all the time.

Is there a different between Chevron, shell, 76 and arco?....I use 91 oct Chevron, it's the most expensive around my area. should I change to shell or 76?

Maybe there is something wrong with my car or the way I drive?
My gas mileage is far from the 335i 19/29.... just to make sure my car is ok.... and I know my driving suck...But BMW make a suck driver drives like a pro, I was driving in the canyon near mailbu today I love the 335I... it handle every twist and turn up and down hill feel like a breeze

Thanks in advance, for sharing your gas mileage experience.

My mpg is so so... I think I averaged about 300 miles or less per tank with lots of highway driving. And this was during the break-in period.

All my weekdays and most weekends driving are local st in traffic, Anyone in socal driving mainly in local street?

Highway and fast flowing traffic my MPG and MPH is very good in DS ....too bad I'm in local st with traffic most of the time. Is 12 mpg normal ... I can get 15 or 16 if I drive D mode only.

It $3.63 today for 91 oct in my area, I hope it won't go over $4.00 in this summer, I might change to 76 is only $3.53. Is there a different Chevron and 76?

I can feel the different with my old 05 325I ... Chevron feel more power than shell... haven't use the 76 for many years.

by the way gas prices is not a problems for me, just bother me when I start playing and looking at the MPG and MPH on my car a week ago. Maybe I just turn it off and drive DS all the way.

I drive quite a bit on the streets... Getting about 19mpg. Yesterday, I drove predominantly freeways and got 26mpg, averaging about 81mph. Took it to 125 twice too! :rocks: However, my average is about 20.2 or so.

Most gasolines are refined the same way. Arco has a different refining process, but the other big companies all refine the same way. The differences are in the additives (i.e. Techron, etc).

I stick with Chevron or Mobil.

Its probably because im still breaking in the car (500+ miles on the odometer), but im averaging 17.6 mpg with 90% city 10% highway. I drive almost always in manual mode.

4500mi - Almost entirely highway driving...in D mode 99% of the time, running around ~24mpg. I rarely push the car, highway driving between 70 & 80mph.

note: this is the awd 335xi ...i didn't buy the car for trunk space or for fuel consumption

25 MPG @ 80 MPH avg all-hwy no A/C
23 MPG @ 80 MPH avg all-hwy with A/C
23 MPG @ 80 MPH avg 15% city, 85% hwy no A/C
21 MPG @ 80 MPH avg 15% city, 85% hwy with A/C

Some notes:
You could probably add 1-2 MPG to each of the above if all acceleration was performed very, very gradually.

I have no doubt that 26 MPG or better can be achieved driving under 70 MPH with the A/C turned off.
