test drove an audi Q7 ...

this was a 3.8 sport line with factory 21s... (i would never do a black vehicle...but for a test drive it worked)...

it felt very large when driving it... my wife at 5'1" 99 lbs seemed lost behind the wheel...

probably ruled out.

now narrowed down to the X5 4.8 sport (w/ 20's)... range rover hse sport... or the volvo XC90 V8 sport...

They really are smaller than the Q7. It also feels like it as well. The Q7 feels like the ass is swaying around in the back. Didnt like the carpeting either in the Q7. It is nice looking, but I cant get over some of the poor handling. The range rover is a little pricey, but it is hot!

correction its a 3.6, I am also in the process of picking up a SUV for mine wife. I am looking at the 4.2 Q7, ML550 amg and the Range Rover Sport and if the X5 comes out with the TT engine that would 1st on the list

IMO the Q7 is perfectly sized but felt heavy unless you get the V8 engine and change the air suspension to "sport" (can't remember what the true name of the config was).

Shopping for SUVs can be a pain the ass. Good luck.

Get the X5 (unless you have money for a Cayenne), you won't regret it.

I'd be hard pressed to purchase a RR new. Although they are nice, you will take a big resale value hit.

If the X5 uses the 3.0L TT, id purchase that and proceed it. It'll probably be a little more reliable (provided that it doesnt have the dreaded fuel pump issue) than the V8 and provide more power.
