I thought first picture of the fruit was a cartoon.

Either ways, last time I crossed a border, they scanned my US passport.
I assume your record would show up and perhaps they'll rule you out so you don't open your casino in Canada and rape Canadian dollars.

Maybe in stores, but clubbing or bar-hopping in Montreal is much cheaper than in Manhattan.

Scanning your passport searches your criminal history as well.

I had to mail my passport AND an FBI background check to the embassy of the foreign country for my work visa, so they must not be able to get that kind of info off your passport (or at least, other countries can't).
btw, michigan, washington, vermont, and NY do not have to show a passport as long as you have an enhanced driver's license and are traveling across the border by land.

You won't get across!! You need a pardon letter for traveling and need to fill in forms to get across border. Mtl is a party city especially during F1 ... So good!!

LOL I know some people too who got busted for illegal gambling. Canada doesn't even let you in if you have a DUI charge, you gotta fill out some forms.

Hello sir, why are you coming to Canada?
To go moose hunting

Is this your car? Yes

How do you pay for it? With cash

Where are you going? Montreal

Do you have a hotel? We have a suite at the Sofitel.

How much money do you have with you? $9900

What do you do for a living? I'm a student

Why are you carrying so much cash? There's a casino in Montreal

Where did you get the cash? From the bank

Where did you get the cash? In America the streets are paved with gold

Then come questions about why I have traveled to lots of countries, why are there so many visas on my passport? My family is very affluent. This prompts a confused look form the border patrol, the car gets searched and then they let us in.

Coming back to the US is much easier. The border patrol asks why we went to Canada, we tell them we went to Montreal for the easy girls and cheap alcohol "It's like going to Mexico, but colder and safer...and we saw a moose". They laugh and let us in.

not necessarily.. i've had similar interactions (not to that extent) with both US border & Cdn border people... however, it's usually the other way around.. Cdn never gave me a hard time, sometimes even joked around (I was usually going to Toronto, titty bar or casino).. i would always get the run down when trying to come back to the US.. (where did you go, did you buy anything, pop your trunk for search)

Well to make it simple... you have 1 potential problem and 1 guaranteed one (granted you get past the 1st problem).

First, with a criminal record you may or may not be able to visit. It's really up to the CBSA officer when you get there. You may be "criminally inadmissible" under Canadian law. You can read this site for more info but there's nothing certain saying you are or aren't allowed unless you served more than 10 years of jail time, then in that case you can't for sure. This is an official government website for Canada so anything else you read online or on forums may be out-dated or incorrect.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...conviction.asp

Second, what your gf wants to do regarding importing fruit (even frozen) into the U.S. has nothing to do with Canadian law but U.S. customs and every item must be declared to them. You can check which fruit are allowed to enter here: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...r-personal-use

You could lie and say you have nothing to declare which works sometimes but if you have a record chances are they'll be more suspicious and search your car. GL with your trip, and yea the falls view is better from the Ontario side. Also drop the superiority attitude, it won't do you any good in Canada or any country you go to... don't give them a bad impression of Americans (if you even are American...)

There's always real estate. Pays well, you don't have to be honest, and there's hardly any work involved. Mostly BS.
