Help needed: what is this plug and where does it go?

Guys, sorry if this is a duplicate. I normally take pictures as I work. But I have no idea what or where this goes. May never have been connected and may not be necessary. Even real OEM.com I can't find what this is.

I'm changing an original battery in a 2008 328i sedan. 5/08 build VA37.

I am not even sure if I disconnected it. Any answers would be hugely appreciated.

Its the plug that was used when the car was transported on the overseas. I think it was for maintaning the battery charge.

thanks man! That could make sense for sure. I just can't believe I didn't notice it before. Because I literally can find nowhere that could go. But I do have horrible vision

That's good to know I was also replacing my passenger side rear tailight bulbs and noticed that myself. Thought at first it was a previous connection from a sound system from previous owner, since he had red light interior and just assumed he went all out on interior and sound customs
